Mark 10:40

Mark 10:39 [words of Jesus] Mark 10:40 (KJV) [words of Jesus] Mark 10:41
And they said unto him, We can. And Jesus said unto them, Ye shall indeed drink of the cup that I drink of; and with the baptism that I am baptized withal shall ye be baptized:
But to sit on my right hand and on my left hand is not mine to give; but [it shall be given to them] for whom it is prepared.
And when the ten heard [it], they began to be much displeased with James and John.

Often used in composition, with the same general import; often of completion.

  • G2176 — εὐώνυμος (euṓnymos, yoo-o'-noo-mos): on the left-hand side, left — from εὖ and ὄνομα; properly, well-named (good-omened), i.e. the left (which was the lucky side among the pagan Greeks); neuter as adverbial, at the left hand:--(on the) left.
