|---|---|---|
Let us therefore follow after the things which make for peace, and things wherewith one may edify another.
|
For meat destroy not the work of God. All things indeed [are] pure; but [it is] evil for that man who eateth with offence.
|
[It is] good neither to eat flesh, nor to drink wine, nor [any thing] whereby thy brother stumbleth, or is offended, or is made weak.

In composition it retains the same general importance.

- G2647 — καταλύω (katalýō, kat-al-oo'-o): I break up, overthrow, unharness, find a lodging — from κατά and λύω; to loosen down (disintegrate), i.e. (by implication) to demolish (literally or figuratively); specially (compare κατάλυμα) to halt for the night:--destroy, dissolve, be guest, lodge, come to nought, overthrow, throw down.
- G3303 — μέν (mén, men): truly, indeed — a primary particle; properly, indicative of affirmation or concession (in fact); usually followed by a contrasted clause with δέ (this one, the former, etc.):--even, indeed, so, some, truly, verily.
