Acts 19:36

|---|---|---|
And when the townclerk had appeased the people, he said, [Ye] men of Ephesus, what man is there that knoweth not how that the city of the Ephesians is a worshipper of the great goddess Diana, and of the [image] which fell down from Jupiter?
|
Seeing then that these things cannot be spoken against, ye ought to be quiet, and to do nothing rashly.

For ye have brought hither these men, which are neither robbers of churches, nor yet blasphemers of your goddess.

Strong's References
- G368 — ἀναντίῤῥητος (anantírrhētos, an-an-tir'-hray-tos): indisputable, not to be contradicted — from Α (as a negative particle) and a presumed derivative of a compound of ἀντί and ῥέω; indisputable:--cannot be spoken against.
- G1163 — δεῖ (deî, die): it is necessary, inevitable — 3rd person singular active present of δέω; also deon deh-on'; neuter active participle of the same; both used impersonally; it is (was, etc.) necessary (as binding):--behoved, be meet, must (needs), (be) need(-ful), ought, should.
- G2076 — ἐστί (estí, es-tee'): third person singular present indicative of εἰμί; he (she or it) is; also (with neuter plural) they are:--are, be(-long), call, X can(-not), come, consisteth, X dure for a while, + follow, X have, (that) is (to say), make, meaneth, X must needs, + profit, + remaineth, + wrestle.
- G2532 — καί (kaí, kahee): and, even, also, namely — apparently, a primary particle, having a copulative and sometimes also a cumulative force; and, also, even, so then, too, etc.; often used in connection (or composition) with other particles or small words:--and, also, both, but, even, for, if, or, so, that, then, therefore, when, yet.
- G2687 — καταστέλλω (katastéllō, kat-as-tel'-lo): I appease, restrain — from κατά and στέλλω; to put down, i.e. quell:--appease, quiet.
- G3367 — μηδείς (mēdeís, may-dice'): no one, nothing — from μή and εἷς; not even one (man, woman, thing):--any (man, thing), no (man), none, not (at all, any man, a whit), nothing, + without delay.
- G3767 — οὖν (oûn, oon): therefore, then — apparently a primary word; (adverbially) certainly, or (conjunctionally) accordingly:--and (so, truly), but, now (then), so (likewise then), then, therefore, verily, wherefore.
- G4238 — πράσσω (prássō, pras'-so): I do, fare, require — a primary verb; to "practise", i.e. perform repeatedly or habitually (thus differing from ποιέω, which properly refers to a single act); by implication, to execute, accomplish, etc.; specially, to collect (dues), fare (personally):--commit, deeds, do, exact, keep, require, use arts.
- G4312 — προπετής (propetḗs, prop-et-ace'): impulsive, rash, reckless — from a compound of πρό and πίπτω; falling forward, i.e. headlong (figuratively, precipitate):--heady, rash(-ly).
- G5130 — τούτων (toútōn, too'-tone): genitive case plural masculine or neuter of οὗτος; of (from or concerning) these (persons or things):--such, their, these (things), they, this sort, those.
- G5209 — ὑμᾶς (hymâs, hoo-mas'): accusative case of ὑμεῖς; you (as the objective of a verb or preposition):--ye, you (+ -ward), your (+ own).
- G5225 — ὑπάρχω (hypárchō, hoop-ar'-kho): I am, exist, am in possession — from ὑπό and ἄρχομαι; to begin under (quietly), i.e. come into existence (be present or at hand); expletively, to exist (as copula or subordinate to an adjective, participle, adverb or preposition, or as an auxiliary to a principal (verb):--after, behave, live.
The following Strong's numbers are referenced in the Greek (Textus Receptus, Scrivener 1894) text but were not explicitly tagged in the KJV source:
- G5607 — ὤν (ṓn, oan): present participle of εἰμί; being:--be, come, have.
