Acts 27:9

Acts 27:8 Acts 27:9 (KJV) Acts 27:10
And, hardly passing it, came unto a place which is called The fair havens; nigh whereunto was the city [of] Lasea.
Now when much time was spent, and when sailing was now dangerous, because the fast was now already past, Paul admonished [them],
And said unto them, Sirs, I perceive that this voyage will be with hurt and much damage, not only of the lading and ship, but also of our lives.

  • G2425 — ἱκανός (hikanós, hik-an-os'): sufficient, worthy, many, much — from ( or , akin to ἥκω) (to arrive); competent (as if coming in season), i.e. ample (in amount) or fit (in character):--able, + content, enough, good, great, large, long (while), many, meet, much, security, sore, sufficient, worthy.
  • G2532 — καί (kaí, kahee): and, even, also, namely — apparently, a primary particle, having a copulative and sometimes also a cumulative force; and, also, even, so then, too, etc.; often used in connection (or composition) with other particles or small words:--and, also, both, but, even, for, if, or, so, that, then, therefore, when, yet.
  • G3521 — νηστεία (nēsteía, nace-ti'-ah): fasting, the day of atonement — from νηστεύω; abstinence (from lack of food, or voluntary and religious); specially, the fast of the Day of Atonement:-- fast(-ing).
  • G3867 — παραινέω (parainéō, par-ahee-neh'-o): I admonish, advise, exhort — from παρά and αἰνέω; to mispraise, i.e. recommend or advise (a different course):--admonish, exhort.
  • G3928 — παρέρχομαι (parérchomai, par-er'-khom-ahee): I pass by — from παρά and ἔρχομαι; to come near or aside, i.e. to approach (arrive), go by (or away), (figuratively) perish or neglect, (causative) avert:--come (forth), go, pass (away, by, over), past, transgress.
  • G3972 — Παῦλος (Paûlos, pow'-los): Paul — of Latin origin; (little; but remotely from a derivative of παύω, meaning the same); Paulus, the name of a Roman and of an apostle:--Paul, Paulus.
  • G4144 — πλόος (plóos, plo'-os): a voyage — from πλέω; a sail, i.e. navigation:--course, sailing, voyage.
  • G5550 — χρόνος (chrónos, khron'-os): time, a particular time, season — of uncertain derivation; a space of time (in general, and thus properly distinguished from καιρός, which designates a fixed or special occasion; and from αἰών, which denotes a particular period) or interval; by extension, an individual opportunity; by implication, delay:--+ years old, season, space, (X often-)time(-s), (a) while.

The following Strong's numbers are referenced in the Greek (Textus Receptus, Scrivener 1894) text but were not explicitly tagged in the KJV source:

  • G3588 — ὁ (ho, ho): the — the definite article; the (sometimes to be supplied, at others omitted, in English idiom):--the, this, that, one, he, she, it, etc.
  • G5607 — ὤν (ṓn, oan): present participle of εἰμί; being:--be, come, have.
