Mark 6:5
| ← Mark 6:4 [words of Jesus] | Mark 6:5 (KJV) | Mark 6:6 → |
|---|---|---|
But Jesus said unto them, A prophet is not without honour, but in his own country, and among his own kin, and in his own house.
|
And he could there do no mighty work, save that he laid his hands upon a few sick folk, and healed [them].
|
And he marvelled because of their unbelief. And he went round about the villages, teaching.

- G1411 — δύναμις (dýnamis, doo'-nam-is): might, power, marvelous works — from δύναμαι; force (literally or figuratively); specially, miraculous power (usually by implication, a miracle itself):--ability, abundance, meaning, might(-ily, -y, -y deed), (worker of) miracle(-s), power, strength, violence, mighty (wonderful) work.
- G1508 — εἰ μή (ei mḗ, i may): from εἰ and μή; if not:--but, except (that), if not, more than, save (only) that, saving, till.
- G1563 — ἐκεῖ (ekeî, ek-i'): there, yonder, thither — of uncertain affinity; there; by extension, thither:--there, thither(-ward), (to) yonder (place).
- G2007 — ἐπιτίθημι (epitíthēmi, ep-ee-tith'-ay-mee): I put, place upon, lay on — from ἐπί and τίθημι; to impose (in a friendly or hostile sense):--add unto, lade, lay upon, put (up) on, set on (up), + surname, X wound.
- G2323 — θεραπεύω (therapeúō, ther-ap-yoo'-o): I care for, attend, serve, heal — from the same as θεράπων; to wait upon menially, i.e. (figuratively) to adore (God), or (specially) to relieve (of disease):--cure, heal, worship.
- G2532 — καί (kaí, kahee): and, even, also, namely — apparently, a primary particle, having a copulative and sometimes also a cumulative force; and, also, even, so then, too, etc.; often used in connection (or composition) with other particles or small words:--and, also, both, but, even, for, if, or, so, that, then, therefore, when, yet.
- G3641 — ὀλίγος (olígos, ol-ee'-gos): small, brief, few, soon — of uncertain affinity; puny (in extent, degree, number, duration or value); especially neuter (adverbially) somewhat:--+ almost, brief(-ly), few, (a) little, + long, a season, short, small, a while.
- G3756 — οὐ (ou, oo): no, not — a primary word; the absolute negative (compare μή) adverb; no or not:--+ long, nay, neither, never, no (X man), none, (can-)not, + nothing, + special, un(-worthy), when, + without, + yet but. See also οὐ μή, μῆκος.
- G3762 — οὐδείς (oudeís, oo-dice'): no one, none, nothing — from οὐδέ and εἷς; not even one (man, woman or thing), i.e. none, nobody, nothing:--any (man), aught, man, neither any (thing), never (man), no (man), none (+ of these things), not (any, at all, -thing), nought.
- G4160 — ποιέω (poiéō, poy-eh'-o): I do, make — apparently a prolonged form of an obsolete primary; to make or do (in a very wide application, more or less direct):--abide, + agree, appoint, X avenge, + band together, be, bear, + bewray, bring (forth), cast out, cause, commit, + content, continue, deal, + without any delay, (would) do(-ing), execute, exercise, fulfil, gain, give, have, hold, X journeying, keep, + lay wait, + lighten the ship, make, X mean, + none of these things move me, observe, ordain, perform, provide, + have purged, purpose, put, + raising up, X secure, shew, X shoot out, spend, take, tarry, + transgress the law, work, yield. Compare πράσσω.
- G5495 — χείρ (cheír, khire): a hand — perhaps from the base of χειμών in the sense of its congener the base of χάσμα (through the idea of hollowness for grasping); the hand (literally or figuratively (power); especially (by Hebraism) a means or instrument):--hand.

- G1487 — εἰ (ei, i): if — a primary particle of conditionality; if, whether, that, etc.:--forasmuch as, if, that, (al-)though, whether. Often used in connection or composition with other particles, especially as in εἴγε, εἰ δὲ μή(γε), εἰ καί, εἰ μή, εἰ μή τι, εἴ περ, εἴ πως, εἴ τις, ἐκ. See also ἐάν.
- G3361 — μή (mḗ, may): not, lest — a primary particle of qualified negation (whereas οὐ expresses an absolute denial); (adverb) not, (conjunction) lest; also (as an interrogative implying a negative answer (whereas οὐ expects an affirmative one)) whether:--any but (that), X forbear, + God forbid, + lack, lest, neither, never, no (X wise in), none, nor, (can-)not, nothing, that not, un(-taken), without. Often used in compounds in substantially the same relations. See also ἐὰν μή, ἵνα μή, οὐ μή, μῆκος, μηκύνω, μήν, μὴ οὐκ.
