| ← Matthew 27:47 | Matthew 27:48 (KJV) | Matthew 27:49 → |
|---|---|---|
Some of them that stood there, when they heard [that], said, This [man] calleth for Elias.
|
And straightway one of them ran, and took a spunge, and filled [it] with vinegar, and put [it] on a reed, and gave him to drink.
|
The rest said, Let be, let us see whether Elias will come to save him.

Compare αὑτοῦ.
- G1520 — εἷς (heîs, hice): one — a primary numeral; one:--a(-n, -ny, certain), + abundantly, man, one (another), only, other, some. See also εἷς καθ’ εἷς, μηδείς, μία, οὐδείς.
- G1537 — ἐκ (ek, ek): from out, out from among, from — a primary preposition denoting origin (the point whence action or motion proceeds), from, out (of place, time, or cause; literal or figurative; direct or remote):--after, among, X are, at, betwixt(-yond), by (the means of), exceedingly, (+ abundantly above), for(- th), from (among, forth, up), + grudgingly, + heartily, X heavenly, X hereby, + very highly, in, …ly, (because, by reason) of, off (from), on, out among (from, of), over, since, X thenceforth, through, X unto, X vehemently, with(-out). Often used in composition, with the same general import; often of completion.
- G2112 — εὐθέως (euthéōs, yoo-theh'-oce): immediately, soon — adverb from εὐθύς; directly, i.e. at once or soon:--anon, as soon as, forthwith, immediately, shortly, straightway.
- G2532 — καί (kaí, kahee): and, even, also, namely — apparently, a primary particle, having a copulative and sometimes also a cumulative force; and, also, even, so then, too, etc.; often used in connection (or composition) with other particles or small words:--and, also, both, but, even, for, if, or, so, that, then, therefore, when, yet.
- G2563 — κάλαμος (kálamos, kal'-am-os): a reed, reed-pen — of uncertain affinity; a reed (the plant or its stem, or that of a similar plant); by implication, a pen:--pen, reed.
- G2983 — λαμβάνω (lambánō, lam-ban'-o): I receive, take — a prolonged form of a primary verb, which is use only as an alternate in certain tenses; to take (in very many applications, literally and figuratively (properly objective or active, to get hold of; whereas δέχομαι is rather subjective or passive, to have offered to one; while αἱρέομαι is more violent, to seize or remove)):--accept, + be amazed, assay, attain, bring, X when I call, catch, come on (X unto), + forget, have, hold, obtain, receive (X after), take (away, up).
- G3690 — ὄξος (óxos, oz-os): vinegar, sour wine — from ὀξύς; vinegar, i.e. sour wine:--vinegar.
- G4060 — περιτίθημι (peritíthēmi, per-ee-tith'-ay-mee): I put around, bestow — from περί and τίθημι; to place around; by implication, to present:--bestow upon, hedge round about, put about (on, upon), set about.
- G4130 — πλήθω (plḗthō, play'-tho): I fill — a prolonged form of a primary (which appears only as an alternate in certain tenses and in the reduplicated form pimplemi); to "fill" (literally or figuratively (imbue, influence, supply)); specially, to fulfil (time):--accomplish, full (…come), furnish.
- G4222 — ποτίζω (potízō, pot-id'-zo): I cause to drink, give to drink — from a derivative of the alternate of πίνω; to furnish drink, irrigate:--give (make) to drink, feed, water.
- G4699 — σπόγγος (spóngos, spong'-gos): a sponge — perhaps of foreign origin; a "sponge":--spunge.
- G5037 — τέ (té, teh): and, both — a primary particle (enclitic) of connection or addition; both or also (properly, as correlation of καί):--also, and, both, even, then, whether. Often used in composition, usually as the latter participle.
- G5143 — τρέχω (tréchō, trekh'-o): I run, exercise myself — apparently a primary verb (properly, ; compare θρίξ); which uses (the base of δρόμος) as alternate in certain tenses; to run or walk hastily (literally or figuratively):--have course, run.
