Derivation: or שׂוֹרֵק (sôwrêq); and (feminine) שֹׂרֵקָה (sôrêqâh); from שָׁרַק (shâraq) H8319 in the sense of redness (compare שָׂרֻק (sâruq) H8320)

Definition: a vine stock (properly, one yielding purple grapes, the richest variety)
