Matthew 24:37

Matthew 24:36 [words of Jesus] Matthew 24:37 (KJV) [words of Jesus] Matthew 24:38 [words of Jesus]
But of that day and hour knoweth no [man], no, not the angels of heaven, but my Father only.
But as the days of Noe [were], so shall also the coming of the Son of man be.
For as in the days that were before the flood they were eating and drinking, marrying and giving in marriage, until the day that Noe entered into the ark,

Strong's References
  • G444 — ἄνθρωπος (ánthrōpos, anth'-ro-pos): a man, one of the human race — from ἀνήρ and (the countenance; from ὀπτάνομαι); man-faced, i.e. a human being:--certain, man.
  • G1161 — δέ (dé, deh): but, on the other hand, and — a primary particle (adversative or continuative); but, and, etc.:--also, and, but, moreover, now (often unexpressed in English).
  • G2071 — ἔσομαι (ésomai, es'-om-ahee): future of εἰμί; will be:--shall (should) be (have), (shall) come (to pass), X may have, X fall, what would follow, X live long, X sojourn.
  • G2250 — ἡμέρα (hēméra, hay-mer'-ah): a day — feminine (with ὥρα implied) of a derivative of (to sit; akin to the base of ἑδραῖος) meaning tame, i.e. gentle; day, i.e. (literally) the time space between dawn and dark, or the whole 24 hours (but several days were usually reckoned by the Jews as inclusive of the parts of both extremes); figuratively, a period (always defined more or less clearly by the context):--age, + alway, (mid-)day (by day, (-ly)), + for ever, judgment, (day) time, while, years.
  • G2532 — καί (kaí, kahee): and, even, also, namely — apparently, a primary particle, having a copulative and sometimes also a cumulative force; and, also, even, so then, too, etc.; often used in connection (or composition) with other particles or small words:--and, also, both, but, even, for, if, or, so, that, then, therefore, when, yet.
  • G3575 — Νῶε (Nōe, no'-eh): Noah — of Hebrew origin (נֹחַ); Noë, (i.e. Noäch), a patriarch:--Noe.
  • G3779 — οὕτω (hoútō, hoo'-to): thus, so, in this manner — adverb from οὗτος; in this way (referring to what precedes or follows):--after that, after (in) this manner, as, even (so), for all that, like(-wise), no more, on this fashion(-wise), so (in like manner), thus, what.
  • G3952 — παρουσία (parousía, par-oo-see'-ah): presence, a coming, arrival, advent — from the present participle of πάρειμι; a being near, i.e. advent (often, return; specially, of Christ to punish Jerusalem, or finally the wicked); (by implication) physically, aspect:--coming, presence.
  • G5207 — υἱός (huiós, hwee-os'): a son, descendent — apparently a primary word; a "son" (sometimes of animals), used very widely of immediate, remote or figuratively, kinship:--child, foal, son.

The following Strong's numbers are referenced in the Greek (Textus Receptus, Scrivener 1894) text but were not explicitly tagged in the KJV source:

  • G3588 — ὁ (ho, ho): the — the definite article; the (sometimes to be supplied, at others omitted, in English idiom):--the, this, that, one, he, she, it, etc.
  • G5618 — ὥσπερ (hṓsper, hoce'-per): just as, as — from ὡς and περ; just as, i.e. exactly like:--(even, like) as.
