Romans 11:19

Romans 11:18 Romans 11:19 (KJV) Romans 11:20
Boast not against the branches. But if thou boast, thou bearest not the root, but the root thee.
Thou wilt say then, The branches were broken off, that I might be graffed in.
Well; because of unbelief they were broken off, and thou standest by faith. Be not highminded, but fear:

Strong's References
  • G1461 — ἐγκεντρίζω (enkentrízō, eng-ken-trid'-zo): I graft in — from ἐν and a derivative of κέντρον; to prick in, i.e. ingraft:--graff in(-to).
  • G1473 — ἐγώ (egṓ, eg-o'): I — a primary pronoun of the first person I (only expressed when emphatic):--I, me. For the other cases and the plural see ἐμέ, ἐμοί, ἐμοῦ, ἡμᾶς, ἡμεῖς, ἡμῖν, ἡμῶν, etc.
  • G1575 — ἐκκλάω (ekkláō, ek-klah'-o): I break off — from ἐκ and κλάω; to exscind:--break off.
  • G2046 — ἐρέω (eréō, er-eh'-o): I say, speak — probably a fuller form of ῥέω; an alternate for ἔπω in certain tenses; to utter, i.e. speak or say:--call, say, speak (of), tell.
  • G2443 — ἵνα (hína, hin'-ah): in order that, so that — probably from the same as the former part of ἑαυτοῦ (through the demonstrative idea; compare ὁ); in order that (denoting the purpose or the result):--albeit, because, to the intent (that), lest, so as, (so) that, (for) to. Compare ἵνα μή.
  • G2798 — κλάδος (kládos, klad'-os): a branch — from κλάω; a twig or bough (as if broken off):--branch.
  • G3767 — οὖν (oûn, oon): therefore, then — apparently a primary word; (adverbially) certainly, or (conjunctionally) accordingly:--and (so, truly), but, now (then), so (likewise then), then, therefore, verily, wherefore.

The following Strong's numbers are referenced in the Greek (Textus Receptus, Scrivener 1894) text but were not explicitly tagged in the KJV source:

  • G3588 — ὁ (ho, ho): the — the definite article; the (sometimes to be supplied, at others omitted, in English idiom):--the, this, that, one, he, she, it, etc.
