Luke 12:26

Luke 12:25 [words of Jesus] Luke 12:26 (KJV) [words of Jesus] Luke 12:27 [words of Jesus]
And which of you with taking thought can add to his stature one cubit?
If ye then be not able to do that thing which is least, why take ye thought for the rest?
Consider the lilies how they grow: they toil not, they spin not; and yet I say unto you, that Solomon in all his glory was not arrayed like one of these.

Strong's References
  • G1410 — δύναμαι (dýnamai, doo'-nam-ahee): I am powerful, am able — of uncertain affinity; to be able or possible:--be able, can (do, + -not), could, may, might, be possible, be of power.
  • G1487 — εἰ (ei, i): if — a primary particle of conditionality; if, whether, that, etc.:--forasmuch as, if, that, (al-)though, whether. Often used in connection or composition with other particles, especially as in εἴγε, εἰ δὲ μή(γε), εἰ καί, εἰ μή, εἰ μή τι, εἴ περ, εἴ πως, εἴ τις, ἐκ. See also ἐάν.
  • G1646 — ἐλάχιστος (eláchistos, el-akh'-is-tos): least, smallest, very little — superlative of (short); used as equivalent to μικρός; least (in size, amount, dignity, etc.):--least, very little (small), smallest.
  • G3062 — λοιποί (loipoí, loy-poy'): left, left behind, the remainder — masculine plural of a derivative of λείπω; remaining ones:--other, which remain, remnant, residue, rest.
  • G3309 — μεριμνάω (merimnáō, mer-im-nah'-o): I am anxious, distracted — from μέριμνα; to be anxious about:--(be, have) care(-ful), take thought.
  • G3767 — οὖν (oûn, oon): therefore, then — apparently a primary word; (adverbially) certainly, or (conjunctionally) accordingly:--and (so, truly), but, now (then), so (likewise then), then, therefore, verily, wherefore.
  • G3777 — οὔτε (oúte, oo'-teh): and not, neither, nor — from οὐ and τέ; not too, i.e. neither or nor; by analogy, not even:--neither, none, nor (yet), (no, yet) not, nothing.
  • G4012 — περί (perí, per-ee'): about, concerning, around — from the base of πέραν; properly, through (all over), i.e. around; figuratively with respect to; used in various applications, of place, cause or time (with the genitive case denoting the subject or occasion or superlative point; with the accusative case the locality, circuit, matter, circumstance or general period):--(there-)about, above, against, at, on behalf of, X and his company, which concern, (as) concerning, for, X how it will go with, ((there-, where-)) of, on, over, pertaining (to), for sake, X (e-)state, (as) touching, (where-)by (in), with. In comparative, it retains substantially the same meaning of circuit (around), excess (beyond), or completeness (through).
  • G5101 — τίς (tís, tis): who, which, what — probably emphatic of τὶς; an interrogative pronoun, who, which or what (in direct or indirect questions):--every man, how (much), + no(-ne, thing), what (manner, thing), where (-by, -fore, -of, -unto, - with, -withal), whether, which, who(-m, -se), why.

The following Strong's numbers are referenced in the Greek (Textus Receptus, Scrivener 1894) text but were not explicitly tagged in the KJV source:

  • G3588 — ὁ (ho, ho): the — the definite article; the (sometimes to be supplied, at others omitted, in English idiom):--the, this, that, one, he, she, it, etc.
