1 Corinthians 15:46

1 Corinthians 15:45 1 Corinthians 15:46 (KJV) 1 Corinthians 15:47
And so it is written, The first man Adam was made a living soul; the last Adam [was made] a quickening spirit.
Howbeit that [was] not first which is spiritual, but that which is natural; and afterward that which is spiritual.
The first man [is] of the earth, earthy: the second man [is] the Lord from heaven.

Strong's References
  • G235 — ἀλλά (allá, al-lah'): but, except — neuter plural of ἄλλος; properly, other things, i.e. (adverbially) contrariwise (in many relations):--and, but (even), howbeit, indeed, nay, nevertheless, no, notwithstanding, save, therefore, yea, yet.
  • G1899 — ἔπειτα (épeita, ep'-i-tah): then, thereafter, afterwards — from ἐπί and εἶτα; thereafter:--after that(-ward), then.
  • G3756 — οὐ (ou, oo): no, not — a primary word; the absolute negative (compare μή) adverb; no or not:--+ long, nay, neither, never, no (X man), none, (can-)not, + nothing, + special, un(-worthy), when, + without, + yet but. See also οὐ μή, μῆκος.
  • G4152 — πνευματικός (pneumatikós, pnyoo-mat-ik-os'): spiritual — from πνεῦμα; non-carnal, i.e. (humanly) ethereal (as opposed to gross), or (dæmoniacally) a spirit (concretely), or (divinely) supernatural, regenerate, religious:--spiritual. Compare ψυχικός.
  • G4412 — πρῶτον (prōton, pro'-ton): first, before — neuter of πρῶτος as adverb (with or without ὁ); firstly (in time, place, order, or importance):--before, at the beginning, chiefly (at, at the) first (of all).

The following Strong's numbers are referenced in the Greek (Textus Receptus, Scrivener 1894) text but were not explicitly tagged in the KJV source:

  • G3588 — ὁ (ho, ho): the — the definite article; the (sometimes to be supplied, at others omitted, in English idiom):--the, this, that, one, he, she, it, etc.
  • G5591 — ψυχικός (psychikós, psoo-khee-kos'): animal, natural, sensuous — from ψυχή; sensitive, i.e. animate (in distinction on the one hand from πνευματικός, which is the higher or renovated nature; and on the other from φυσικός, which is the lower or bestial nature):--natural, sensual.
