Psalms 69:30

Psalms 69:29 Psalms 69:30 (KJV) Psalms 69:31
But I [am] poor and sorrowful: let thy salvation, O God, set me up on high.
I will praise the name of God with a song, and will magnify him with thanksgiving.
[This] also shall please the LORD better than an ox [or] bullock that hath horns and hoofs.

  • H8034 — שֵׁם (shêm, shame): a primitive word (perhaps rather from through the idea of definite and conspicuous position; compare שָׁמַיִם); an appellation, as amark or memorial of individuality; by implication honor, authority, character; [phrase] base, (in-) fame(-ous), named(-d), renown, report.
  • H8426 — תּוֹדָה (tôwdâh, to-daw'): from יָדָה; properly, an extension of the hand, i.e. (by implication) avowal, or (usually) adoration; specifically, a choir of worshippers; confession, (sacrifice of) praise, thanks(-giving, offering).

The following Strong's numbers are referenced in the Hebrew (Westminster Leningrad Codex) text but were not explicitly tagged in the KJV source:

  • H7682 — שָׂגַב (sâgab, saw-gab'): a primitive root; to be (causatively, make) lofty, especially inaccessible; by implication, safe, strong; used literally and figuratively; defend, exalt, be excellent, (be, set on) high, lofty, be safe, set up (on high), be too strong.
