Hebrews 13:15

Hebrews 13:14 Hebrews 13:15 (KJV) Hebrews 13:16
For here have we no continuing city, but we seek one to come.
By him therefore let us offer the sacrifice of praise to God continually, that is, the fruit of [our] lips giving thanks to his name.
But to do good and to communicate forget not: for with such sacrifices God is well pleased.

Strong's References
  • G133 — αἴνεσις (aínesis, ah'-ee-nes-is): praise — from αἰνέω; a praising (the act), i.e. (specially) a thank(-offering):--praise.
  • G399 — ἀναφέρω (anaphérō, an-af-er'-o): I carry up, lead up, offer up — from ἀνά and φέρω; to take up (literally or figuratively):--bear, bring (carry, lead) up, offer (up).
  • G846 — αὐτός (autós, ow-tos'): he, she, it, they, them, same — from the particle (perhaps akin to the base of ἀήρ through the idea of a baffling wind) (backward); the reflexive pronoun self, used (alone or in the comparative ἑαυτοῦ) of the third person , and (with the proper personal pronoun) of the other persons:--her, it(-self), one, the other, (mine) own, said, (self-), the) same, ((him-, my-, thy- )self, (your-)selves, she, that, their(-s), them(-selves), there(-at, - by, -in, -into, -of, -on, -with), they, (these) things, this (man), those, together, very, which. Compare αὑτοῦ.
  • G1223 — διά (diá, dee-ah'): through, on account of — a primary preposition denoting the channel of an act; through (in very wide applications, local, causal, or occasional):--after, always, among, at, to avoid, because of (that), briefly, by, for (cause) … fore, from, in, by occasion of, of, by reason of, for sake, that, thereby, therefore, X though, through(-out), to, wherefore, with (-in). In composition it retains the same general importance.
  • G1275 — διαπαντός (diapantós, dee-ap-an-tos'): from διά and the genitive case of πᾶς; through all time, i.e. (adverbially) constantly:--alway(-s), continually.
  • G2316 — θεός (theós, theh'-os): God, a god — of uncertain affinity; a deity, especially (with ὁ) the supreme Divinity; figuratively, a magistrate; by Hebraism, very:--X exceeding, God, god(-ly, -ward).
  • G2378 — θυσία (thysía, thoo-see'-ah): a sacrifice — from θύω; sacrifice (the act or the victim, literally or figuratively):--sacrifice.
  • G2590 — καρπός (karpós, kar-pos'): fruit, result, gain — probably from the base of ἁρπάζω; fruit (as plucked), literally or figuratively:--fruit.
  • G3670 — ὁμολογέω (homologéō, hom-ol-og-eh'-o): I confess, profess, acknowledge, praise — from a compound of the base of ὁμοῦ and λόγος; to assent, i.e. covenant, acknowledge:--con- (pro-)fess, confession is made, give thanks, promise.
  • G3686 — ὄνομα (ónoma, on'-om-ah): name, character, reputation — from a presumed derivative of the base of γινώσκω (compare ὀνίνημι); a "name" (literally or figuratively) (authority, character):--called, (+ sur-)name(-d).
  • G3767 — οὖν (oûn, oon): therefore, then — apparently a primary word; (adverbially) certainly, or (conjunctionally) accordingly:--and (so, truly), but, now (then), so (likewise then), then, therefore, verily, wherefore.
  • G5123 — τουτέστι (toutésti, toot-es'-tee): contraction for τοῦτο and ἐστί; that is:--that is (to say).
  • G5491 — χεῖλος (cheîlos, khi'-los): a lip, mouth, shore — from a form of the same as χάσμα; a lip (as a pouring place); figuratively, a margin (of water):--lip, shore.

The following Strong's numbers are referenced in the Greek (Textus Receptus, Scrivener 1894) text but were not explicitly tagged in the KJV source:

  • G2076 — ἐστί (estí, es-tee'): third person singular present indicative of εἰμί; he (she or it) is; also (with neuter plural) they are:--are, be(-long), call, X can(-not), come, consisteth, X dure for a while, + follow, X have, (that) is (to say), make, meaneth, X must needs, + profit, + remaineth, + wrestle.
  • G3588 — ὁ (ho, ho): the — the definite article; the (sometimes to be supplied, at others omitted, in English idiom):--the, this, that, one, he, she, it, etc.
  • G3956 — πᾶς (pâs, pas): all, the whole, every kind of — including all the forms of declension; apparently a primary word; all, any, every, the whole:--all (manner of, means), alway(-s), any (one), X daily, + ever, every (one, way), as many as, + no(-thing), X thoroughly, whatsoever, whole, whosoever.
  • G5124 — τοῦτο (toûto, too'-to): neuter singular nominative or accusative case of οὗτος; that thing:--here (-unto), it, partly, self(-same), so, that (intent), the same, there(-fore, -unto), this, thus, where(-fore).
