Then answered one of the lawyers, and said unto him, Master, thus saying thou reproachest us also.

And he said, Woe unto you also, [ye] lawyers! for ye lade men with burdens grievous to be borne, and ye yourselves touch not the burdens with one of your fingers.
|
Woe unto you! for ye build the sepulchres of the prophets, and your fathers killed them.

- G444 — ἄνθρωπος (ánthrōpos, anth'-ro-pos): a man, one of the human race — from ἀνήρ and (the countenance; from ὀπτάνομαι); man-faced, i.e. a human being:--certain, man.
- G846 — αὐτός (autós, ow-tos'): he, she, it, they, them, same — from the particle (perhaps akin to the base of ἀήρ through the idea of a baffling wind) (backward); the reflexive pronoun self, used (alone or in the comparative ἑαυτοῦ) of the third person , and (with the proper personal pronoun) of the other persons:--her, it(-self), one, the other, (mine) own, said, (self-), the) same, ((him-, my-, thy- )self, (your-)selves, she, that, their(-s), them(-selves), there(-at, - by, -in, -into, -of, -on, -with), they, (these) things, this (man), those, together, very, which. Compare αὑτοῦ.
- G1147 — δάκτυλος (dáktylos, dak'-too-los): a finger — probably from δέκα; a finger:--finger.
- G1161 — δέ (dé, deh): but, on the other hand, and — a primary particle (adversative or continuative); but, and, etc.:--also, and, but, moreover, now (often unexpressed in English).
- G1419 — δυσβάστακτος (dysbástaktos, doos-bas'-tak-tos): difficult to carry — from δυσ- and a derivative of βαστάζω; oppressive:--grievous to be borne.

- G3544 — νομικός (nomikós, nom-ik-os'): about law, one learned in the Law — from νόμος; according (or pertaining) to law, i.e. legal (ceremonially); as noun, an expert in the (Mosaic) law:--about the law, lawyer.
- G3754 — ὅτι (hóti, hot'-ee): that, since, because — neuter of ὅστις as conjunction; demonstrative, that (sometimes redundant); causative, because:--as concerning that, as though, because (that), for (that), how (that), (in) that, though, why.
- G3756 — οὐ (ou, oo): no, not — a primary word; the absolute negative (compare μή) adverb; no or not:--+ long, nay, neither, never, no (X man), none, (can-)not, + nothing, + special, un(-worthy), when, + without, + yet but. See also οὐ μή, μῆκος.
- G3759 — οὐαί (ouaí, oo-ah'-ee): woe!, alas! — a primary exclamation of grief; "woe":--alas, woe.
- G4379 — προσψαύω (prospsaúō, pros-psow'-o): I touch lightly — from πρός and (to touch); to impinge, i.e. lay a finger on (in order to relieve):--touch.
- G5213 — ὑμῖν (hymîn, hoo-min'): irregular dative case of ὑμεῖς; to (with or by) you:--ye, you, your(-selves).
- G5216 — ὑμῶν (hymōn, hoo-mone'): genitive case of ὑμεῖς; of (from or concerning) you:--ye, you, your (own, -selves).
- G5412 — φορτίζω (phortízō, for-tid'-zo): I load, burden — from φόρτος; to load up (properly, as a vessel or animal), i.e. (figuratively) to overburden with ceremony (or spiritual anxiety):--lade, by heavy laden.
