Acts 26:5

Acts 26:4 Acts 26:5 (KJV) Acts 26:6
My manner of life from my youth, which was at the first among mine own nation at Jerusalem, know all the Jews;
Which knew me from the beginning, if they would testify, that after the most straitest sect of our religion I lived a Pharisee.
And now I stand and am judged for the hope of the promise made of God unto our fathers:

Strong's References
  • G139 — αἵρεσις (haíresis, hah'-ee-res-is): a self-chosen opinion, a sect — from αἱρέομαι; properly, a choice, i.e. (specially) a party or (abstractly) disunion:--heresy (which is the Greek word itself), sect.
  • G196 — ἀκριβέστατος (akribéstatos, ak-ree-bes'-ta-tos): most exact, strict — superlative of (a derivative of the same as ἄκρον); most exact:--most straitest.
  • G509 — ἄνωθεν (ánōthen, an'-o-then): from above, from the beginning, again — from ἄνω; from above; by analogy, from the first; by implication, anew:--from above, again, from the beginning (very first), the top.
  • G1437 — ἐάν (eán, eh-an'): if — from εἰ and ἄν; a conditional particle; in case that, provided, etc.; often used in connection with other particles to denote indefiniteness or uncertainty:--before, but, except, (and) if, (if) so, (what-, whither-)soever, though, when (-soever), whether (or), to whom, (who-)so(-ever). See μή.
  • G2198 — ζάω (záō, dzah'-o): I live — a primary verb; to live (literally or figuratively):--life(-time), (a-)live(-ly), quick.
  • G2251 — ἡμέτερος (hēméteros, hay-met'-er-os): our, our own — from θνητός; our:--our, your (by a different reading).
  • G2309 — θέλω (thélō, thel'-o): I will, wish, desire — apparently strengthened from the alternate form of αἱρέομαι; to determine (as an active option from subjective impulse; whereas βούλομαι properly denotes rather a passive acquiescence in objective considerations), i.e. choose or prefer (literally or figuratively); by implication, to wish, i.e. be inclined to (sometimes adverbially, gladly); impersonally for the future tense, to be about to; by Hebraism, to delight in:--desire, be disposed (forward), intend, list, love, mean, please, have rather, (be) will (have, -ling, - ling(-ly)).
  • G2356 — θρησκεία (thrēskeía, thrace-ki'-ah): ritual worship, religion — from a derivative of θρησκός; ceremonial observance:--religion, worshipping.
  • G2596 — κατά (katá, kat-ah'): down from, against, according to, throughout, during — a primary particle; (prepositionally) down (in place or time), in varied relations (according to the case (genitive, dative or accusative) with which it is joined):--about, according as (to), after, against, (when they were) X alone, among, and, X apart, (even, like) as (concerning, pertaining to touching), X aside, at, before, beyond, by, to the charge of, (charita-)bly, concerning, + covered, (dai-)ly, down, every, (+ far more) exceeding, X more excellent, for, from … to, godly, in(-asmuch, divers, every, -to, respect of), … by, after the manner of, + by any means, beyond (out of) measure, X mightily, more, X natural, of (up-)on (X part), out (of every), over against, (+ your) X own, + particularly, so, through(-oughout, -oughout every), thus, (un-)to(-gether, -ward), X uttermost, where(-by), with. In composition it retains many of these applications, and frequently denotes opposition, distribution, or intensity.
  • G3140 — μαρτυρέω (martyréō, mar-too-reh'-o): I witness, testify — from μάρτυς; to be a witness, i.e. testify (literally or figuratively):--charge, give (evidence), bear record, have (obtain, of) good (honest) report, be well reported of, testify, give (have) testimony, (be, bear, give, obtain) witness.
  • G3165 — μέ (mé, meh): a shorter (and probably original) form of ἐμέ; me:--I, me, my.
  • G3754 — ὅτι (hóti, hot'-ee): that, since, because — neuter of ὅστις as conjunction; demonstrative, that (sometimes redundant); causative, because:--as concerning that, as though, because (that), for (that), how (that), (in) that, though, why.
  • G4267 — προγινώσκω (proginṓskō, prog-in-oce'-ko): I know beforehand — from πρό and γινώσκω; to know beforehand, i.e. foresee:--foreknow (ordain), know (before).
  • G5330 — Φαρισαῖος (Pharisaîos, far-is-ah'-yos): a Pharisee — of Hebrew origin (compare פָּרָשׁ); a separatist, i.e. exclusively religious; a Pharisean, i.e. Jewish sectary:--Pharisee.

The following Strong's numbers are referenced in the Greek (Textus Receptus, Scrivener 1894) text but were not explicitly tagged in the KJV source:

  • G3588 — ὁ (ho, ho): the — the definite article; the (sometimes to be supplied, at others omitted, in English idiom):--the, this, that, one, he, she, it, etc.
