For thus saith the LORD; Behold, they whose judgment [was] not to drink of the cup have assuredly drunken; and [art] thou he [that] shall altogether go unpunished? thou shalt not go unpunished, but thou shalt surely drink [of it].

For I have sworn by myself, saith the LORD, that Bozrah shall become a desolation, a reproach, a waste, and a curse; and all the cities thereof shall be perpetual wastes.

I have heard a rumour from the LORD, and an ambassador is sent unto the heathen, [saying], Gather ye together, and come against her, and rise up to the battle.

For I have swornH7650 by myself, saithH5002 the LORDH3068, that BozrahH1224 shall become a desolationH8047, a reproachH2781, a wasteH2721, and a curseH7045; and all the citiesH5892 thereof shall be perpetualH5769 wastesH2723.
כִּי בִי נִשְׁבַּעְתִּי נְאֻם־יְהוָה כִּי־לְשַׁמָּה לְחֶרְפָּה לְחֹרֶב וְלִקְלָלָה תִּהְיֶה בָצְרָה וְכָל־עָרֶיהָ תִהְיֶינָה לְחָרְבֹות עֹולָם׃

- H1224 — בׇּצְרָה (Botsrâh, bots-raw'): the same as בׇּצְרָה; Botsrah, a place in Edom; Bozrah.
- H2721 — חֹרֶב (chôreb, kho'-reb): a collaterally form of חֶרֶב; drought or desolation; desolation, drought, dry, heat, [idiom] utterly, waste.
- H2723 — חׇרְבָּה (chorbâh, khor-baw'): feminine of חֹרֶב; properly, drought, i.e. (by implication) a desolation; decayed place, desolate (place, -tion), destruction, (laid) waste (place).
