And there followed him great multitudes of people from Galilee, and [from] Decapolis, and [from] Jerusalem, and [from] Judaea, and [from] beyond Jordan.
And seeing the multitudes, he went up into a mountain: and when he was set, his disciples came unto him:

In composition (as a prefix) it usually denotes separation, departure, cessation, completion, reversal, etc.
  • G846 — αὐτός (autós, ow-tos'): he, she, it, they, them, same — from the particle (perhaps akin to the base of ἀήρ through the idea of a baffling wind) (backward); the reflexive pronoun self, used (alone or in the comparative ἑαυτοῦ) of the third person , and (with the proper personal pronoun) of the other persons:--her, it(-self), one, the other, (mine) own, said, (self-), the) same, ((him-, my-, thy- )self, (your-)selves, she, that, their(-s), them(-selves), there(-at, - by, -in, -into, -of, -on, -with), they, (these) things, this (man), those, together, very, which. • G1179 — Δεκάπολις (Dekápolis, dek-ap'-ol-is): Decapolis — from δέκα and πόλις; the ten-city region; the Decapolis, a district in Syria:--Decapolis.
  • G2414 — Ἱεροσόλυμα (Hierosólyma, hee-er-os-ol'-oo-mah): Jerusalem — of Hebrew origin (יְרוּשָׁלַ͏ִם); Hierosolyma (i.e. Jerushalaim), the capitol of Palestine:--Jerusalem. Compare Ἱερουσαλήμ.

  • G2449 — Ἰουδαία (Ioudaía, ee-oo-dah'-yah): Judea — feminine of Ἰουδαῖος (with γῆ implied); the Judæan land (i.e. Judæa), a region of Palestine:--Judæa.
  • G2532 — καί (kaí, kahee): and, even, also, namely — apparently, a primary particle, having a copulative and sometimes also a cumulative force; and, also, even, so then, too, etc.; often used in connection (or composition) with other particles or small words:--and, also, both, but, even, for, if, or, so, that, then, therefore, when, yet.
  • G3793 — ὄχλος (óchlos, okh'los): a crowd — from a derivative of ἔχω (meaning a vehicle); a throng (as borne along); by implication, the rabble; by extension, a class of people; figuratively, a riot:--company, multitude, number (of people), people, press.
  • G4008 — πέραν (péran, per'-an): over, beyond — apparently accusative case of an obsolete derivative of (to "pierce"); through (as adverb or preposition), i.e. across:--beyond, farther (other) side, over.
  • G4183 — πολύς (polýs, pol-oos'): much, many, often — including the forms from the alternate ; (singular) much (in any respect) or (plural) many; neuter (singular) as adverbial, largely; neuter (plural) as adverb or noun often, mostly, largely:--abundant, + altogether, common, + far (passed, spent), (+ be of a) great (age, deal, -ly, while), long, many, much, oft(-en (-times)), plenteous, sore, straitly. Compare πλεῖστος, πλείων.

The following Strong's numbers are referenced in the Greek (Textus Receptus, Scrivener 1894) text but were not explicitly tagged in the KJV source:
