For Gaza shall be forsaken, and Ashkelon a desolation: they shall drive out Ashdod at the noon day, and Ekron shall be rooted up.

Woe unto the inhabitants of the sea coast, the nation of the Cherethites! the word of the LORD [is] against you; O Canaan, the land of the Philistines, I will even destroy thee, that there shall be no inhabitant.

And the sea coast shall be dwellings [and] cottages for shepherds, and folds for flocks.

WoeH1945 unto the inhabitantsH3427 of the seaH3220 coastH2256, the nationH1471 of the CherethitesH3774! the wordH1697 of the LORDH3068 is against you; O CanaanH3667, the landH776 of the PhilistinesH6430, I will even destroyH6 thee, that there shall be no inhabitantH3427.

- H6 — אָבַד (ʼâbad, aw-bad'): a primitive root; properly, to wander away, i.e. lose oneself; by implication to perish (causative, destroy); break, destroy(-uction), [phrase] not escape, fail, lose, (cause to, make) perish, spend, [idiom] and surely, take, be undone, [idiom] utterly, be void of, have no way to flee.
