2 Kings 1:10

2 Kings 1:9 2 Kings 1:10 (KJV) 2 Kings 1:11
Then the king sent unto him a captain of fifty with his fifty. And he went up to him: and, behold, he sat on the top of an hill. And he spake unto him, Thou man of God, the king hath said, Come down.
And Elijah answered and said to the captain of fifty, If I [be] a man of God, then let fire come down from heaven, and consume thee and thy fifty. And there came down fire from heaven, and consumed him and his fifty.
Again also he sent unto him another captain of fifty with his fifty. And he answered and said unto him, O man of God, thus hath the king said, Come down quickly.

Compare אִשָּׁה.

  • H430 — אֱלֹהִים (ʼĕlôhîym, el-o-heem'): plural of אֱלוֹהַּ; gods in the ordinary sense; but specifically used (in the plural thus, especially with the article) of the supreme God; occasionally applied by way of deference to magistrates; and sometimes as a superlative; angels, [idiom] exceeding, God (gods) (-dess, -ly), [idiom] (very) great, judges, [idiom] mighty.
  • H452 — אֵלִיָּה (ʼÊlîyâh, ay-lee-yaw'): or prolonged אֵלִיָּהוּ; from אֵל and יָהּ; God of Jehovah; Elijah, the name of the famous prophet and of two other Israelites; Elijah, Eliah.

  • H1696 — דָבַר (dâbar, daw-bar'): a primitive root; perhaps properly, to arrange; but used figuratively (of words), to speak; rarely (in a destructive sense) to subdue; answer, appoint, bid, command, commune, declare, destroy, give, name, promise, pronounce, rehearse, say, speak, be spokesman, subdue, talk, teach, tell, think, use (entreaties), utter, [idiom] well, [idiom] work.
