Matthew 21:41

Matthew 21:40 [words of Jesus] Matthew 21:41 (KJV) Matthew 21:42 [words of Jesus]
When the lord therefore of the vineyard cometh, what will he do unto those husbandmen?
They say unto him, He will miserably destroy those wicked men, and will let out [his] vineyard unto other husbandmen, which shall render him the fruits in their seasons.
Jesus saith unto them, Did ye never read in the scriptures, The stone which the builders rejected, the same is become the head of the corner: this is the Lord's doing, and it is marvellous in our eyes?

Strong's References
  • G243 — ἄλλος (állos, al'-los): other, another, different — a primary word; "else," i.e. different (in many applications):--more, one (another), (an-, some an-)other(-s, -wise).
  • G290 — ἀμπελών (ampelṓn, am-pel-ohn'): a vineyard — from ἄμπελος; a vineyard:--vineyard.
  • G591 — ἀποδίδωμι (apodídōmi, ap-od-eed'-o-mee): I give back, return, sell — from ἀπό and δίδωμι; to give away, i.e. up, over, back, etc. (in various applications):--deliver (again), give (again), (re-)pay(-ment be made), perform, recompense, render, requite, restore, reward, sell, yield.
  • G622 — ἀπόλλυμι (apóllymi, ap-ol'-loo-mee): I destroy, lose, am perishing — from ἀπό and the base of ὄλεθρος; to destroy fully (reflexively, to perish, or lose), literally or figuratively:--destroy, die, lose, mar, perish.
  • G846 — αὐτός (autós, ow-tos'): he, she, it, they, them, same — from the particle (perhaps akin to the base of ἀήρ through the idea of a baffling wind) (backward); the reflexive pronoun self, used (alone or in the comparative ἑαυτοῦ) of the third person , and (with the proper personal pronoun) of the other persons:--her, it(-self), one, the other, (mine) own, said, (self-), the) same, ((him-, my-, thy- )self, (your-)selves, she, that, their(-s), them(-selves), there(-at, - by, -in, -into, -of, -on, -with), they, (these) things, this (man), those, together, very, which. Compare αὑτοῦ.
  • G1092 — γεωργός (geōrgós, gheh-ore-gos'): a worker of the soil, husbandman, vine-dresser — from γῆ and the base of ἔργον; a land-worker, i.e. farmer:--husbandman.
  • G1554 — ἐκδίδωμι (ekdídōmi, ek-did-o'-mee): I give out, let, let out for my own advantage — from ἐκ and δίδωμι; to give forth, i.e. (specially) to lease:--let forth (out).
  • G1722 — ἐν (en, en): in, on, among — a primary preposition denoting (fixed) position (in place, time or state), and (by implication) instrumentality (medially or constructively), i.e. a relation of rest (intermediate between εἰς and ἐκ); "in," at, (up-)on, by, etc.:--about, after, against, + almost, X altogether, among, X as, at, before, between, (here-)by (+ all means), for (… sake of), + give self wholly to, (here-)in(-to, -wardly), X mightily, (because) of, (up-)on, (open-)ly, X outwardly, one, X quickly, X shortly, (speedi-)ly, X that, X there(-in, -on), through(-out), (un-)to(-ward), under, when, where(-with), while, with(-in). Often used in compounds, with substantially the same import; rarely with verbs of motion, and then not to indicate direction, except (elliptically) by a separate (and different) preposition.
  • G2532 — καί (kaí, kahee): and, even, also, namely — apparently, a primary particle, having a copulative and sometimes also a cumulative force; and, also, even, so then, too, etc.; often used in connection (or composition) with other particles or small words:--and, also, both, but, even, for, if, or, so, that, then, therefore, when, yet.
  • G2540 — καιρός (kairós, kahee-ros'): fitting season, opportunity, time — of uncertain affinity; an occasion, i.e. set or proper time:--X always, opportunity, (convenient, due) season, (due, short, while) time, a while. Compare χρόνος.
  • G2556 — κακός (kakós, kak-os'): bad, evil — apparently a primary word; worthless (intrinsically, such; whereas πονηρός properly refers to effects), i.e. (subjectively) depraved, or (objectively) injurious:--bad, evil, harm, ill, noisome, wicked.
  • G2560 — κακῶς (kakōs, kak-oce'): badly, evilly — from κακός; badly (physically or morally):--amiss, diseased, evil, grievously, miserably, sick, sore.
  • G2590 — καρπός (karpós, kar-pos'): fruit, result, gain — probably from the base of ἁρπάζω; fruit (as plucked), literally or figuratively:--fruit.
  • G3004 — λέγω (légō, leg'-o): I say, speak — a primary verb; properly, to "lay" forth, i.e. (figuratively) relate (in words (usually of systematic or set discourse; whereas ἔπω and φημί generally refer to an individual expression or speech respectively; while ῥέω is properly to break silence merely, and λαλέω means an extended or random harangue)); by implication, to mean:--ask, bid, boast, call, describe, give out, name, put forth, say(-ing, on), shew, speak, tell, utter.
  • G3748 — ὅστις (hóstis, hos'-tis): whosoever, whichsoever, whatsoever — from ὅς and τὶς; which some, i.e. any that; also (definite) which same:--X and (they), (such) as, (they) that, in that they, what(-soever), whereas ye, (they) which, who(-soever). Compare ὅτι.

The following Strong's numbers are referenced in the Greek (Textus Receptus, Scrivener 1894) text but were not explicitly tagged in the KJV source:

  • G3588 — ὁ (ho, ho): the — the definite article; the (sometimes to be supplied, at others omitted, in English idiom):--the, this, that, one, he, she, it, etc.
