And when neither sun nor stars in many days appeared, and no small tempest lay on [us], all hope that we should be saved was then taken away.

But after long abstinence Paul stood forth in the midst of them, and said, Sirs, ye should have hearkened unto me, and not have loosed from Crete, and to have gained this harm and loss.

- G798 — ἄστρον (ástron, as'-tron): a star — neuter from ἀστήρ; properly, a constellation; put for a single star (natural or artificial):--star.

- G2014 — ἐπιφαίνω (epiphaínō, ep-ee-fah'-ee-no): I appear, shine upon — from ἐπί and φαίνω; to shine upon, i.e. become (literally) visible or (figuratively) known:--appear, give light.
- G2246 — ἥλιος (hḗlios, hay'-lee-os): the sun, sunlight — from (a ray; perhaps akin to the alternate of αἱρέομαι); the sun; by implication, light:--+ east, sun.
- G2248 — ἡμᾶς (hēmâs, hay-mas'): accusative case plural of ἐγώ; us:--our, us, we.
- G2250 — ἡμέρα (hēméra, hay-mer'-ah): a day — feminine (with ὥρα implied) of a derivative of (to sit; akin to the base of ἑδραῖος) meaning tame, i.e. gentle; day, i.e. (literally) the time space between dawn and dark, or the whole 24 hours (but several days were usually reckoned by the Jews as inclusive of the parts of both extremes); figuratively, a period (always defined more or less clearly by the context):--age, + alway, (mid-)day (by day, (-ly)), + for ever, judgment, (day) time, while, years.
- G3063 — λοιπόν (loipón, loy-pon'): finally, from now on, henceforth, beyond that — neuter singular of the same as λοιποί; something remaining (adverbially):--besides, finally, furthermore, (from) henceforth, moreover, now, + it remaineth, then.
- G3383 — μήτε (mḗte, may'-teh): nor, neither, not even — from μή and τέ; not too, i.e. (in continued negation) neither or nor; also, not even:--neither, (n-)or, so as much.
- G3641 — ὀλίγος (olígos, ol-ee'-gos): small, brief, few, soon — of uncertain affinity; puny (in extent, degree, number, duration or value); especially neuter (adverbially) somewhat:--+ almost, brief(-ly), few, (a) little, + long, a season, short, small, a while.

- G5037 — τέ (té, teh): and, both — a primary particle (enclitic) of connection or addition; both or also (properly, as correlation of καί):--also, and, both, even, then, whether. Often used in composition, usually as the latter participle.
- G5494 — χειμών (cheimṓn, khi-mone'): a tempest, the rainy season — from a derivative of (to pour; akin to the base of 5490 through the idea of a channel), meaning a storm (as pouring rain); by implication, the rainy season, i.e. winter:--tempest, foul weather, winter.
