|---|---|---|
Let the elders that rule well be counted worthy of double honour, especially they who labour in the word and doctrine.
|
For the scripture saith, Thou shalt not muzzle the ox that treadeth out the corn. And, The labourer [is] worthy of his reward.
|
Against an elder receive not an accusation, but before two or three witnesses.

autou | G846 | P-GSM | of his |
- G248 — ἀλοάω (aloáō, al-o-ah'-o): I thresh — from the same as ἅλων; to tread out grain:--thresh, tread out the corn.
- G514 — ἄξιος (áxios, ax'-ee-os): worthy, worthy of, deserving — probably from ἄγω; deserving, comparable or suitable (as if drawing praise):--due reward, meet, (un-)worthy.
- G846 — αὐτός (autós, ow-tos'): he, she, it, they, them, same — from the particle (perhaps akin to the base of ἀήρ through the idea of a baffling wind) (backward); the reflexive pronoun self, used (alone or in the comparative ἑαυτοῦ) of the third person , and (with the proper personal pronoun) of the other persons:--her, it(-self), one, the other, (mine) own, said, (self-), the) same, ((him-, my-, thy- )self, (your-)selves, she, that, their(-s), them(-selves), there(-at, - by, -in, -into, -of, -on, -with), they, (these) things, this (man), those, together, very, which. Compare αὑτοῦ.
- G1016 — βοῦς (boûs, booce): an ox — probably from the base of βόσκω; an ox (as grazing), i.e. an animal of that species ("beef"):--ox.
- G1063 — γάρ (gár, gar): for — a primary particle; properly, assigning a reason (used in argument, explanation or intensification; often with other particles):--and, as, because (that), but, even, for, indeed, no doubt, seeing, then, therefore, verily, what, why, yet.
- G1124 — γραφή (graphḗ, graf-ay'): a writing, passage of scripture, the scriptures — from γράφω; a document, i.e. holy Writ (or its contents or a statement in it):--scripture.
- G2040 — ἐργάτης (ergátēs, er-gat'-ace): a field-laborer, workman — from ἔργον; a toiler; figuratively, a teacher:--labourer, worker(-men).
- G2532 — καί (kaí, kahee): and, even, also, namely — apparently, a primary particle, having a copulative and sometimes also a cumulative force; and, also, even, so then, too, etc.; often used in connection (or composition) with other particles or small words:--and, also, both, but, even, for, if, or, so, that, then, therefore, when, yet.
- G3004 — λέγω (légō, leg'-o): I say, speak — a primary verb; properly, to "lay" forth, i.e. (figuratively) relate (in words (usually of systematic or set discourse; whereas ἔπω and φημί generally refer to an individual expression or speech respectively; while ῥέω is properly to break silence merely, and λαλέω means an extended or random harangue)); by implication, to mean:--ask, bid, boast, call, describe, give out, name, put forth, say(-ing, on), shew, speak, tell, utter.
- G3408 — μισθός (misthós, mis-thos'): wages, reward — apparently a primary word; pay for service (literally or figuratively), good or bad:--hire, reward, wages.
- G3756 — οὐ (ou, oo): no, not — a primary word; the absolute negative (compare μή) adverb; no or not:--+ long, nay, neither, never, no (X man), none, (can-)not, + nothing, + special, un(-worthy), when, + without, + yet but. See also οὐ μή, μῆκος.
- G5392 — φιμόω (phimóō, fee-mo'-o): I muzzle, silence — from (a muzzle); to muzzle:--muzzle.
The following Strong's numbers are referenced in the Greek (Textus Receptus, Scrivener 1894) text but were not explicitly tagged in the KJV source:
- G3588 — ὁ (ho, ho): the — the definite article; the (sometimes to be supplied, at others omitted, in English idiom):--the, this, that, one, he, she, it, etc.
