Peter therefore was kept in prison: but prayer was made without ceasing of the church unto God for him.

And when Herod would have brought him forth, the same night Peter was sleeping between two soldiers, bound with two chains: and the keepers before the door kept the prison.

And, behold, the angel of the Lord came upon [him], and a light shined in the prison: and he smote Peter on the side, and raised him up, saying, Arise up quickly. And his chains fell off from [his] hands.

ὅτε δὲ ἔμελλεν αὐτὸν προάγειν ὁ Ἡρώδης, τῇ νυκτὶ ἐκείνῃ ἦν ὁ Πέτρος κοιμώμενος μεταξὺ δύο στρατιωτῶν, δεδεμένος ἁλύσεσι δυσί· φύλακές τε πρὸ τῆς θύρας ἐτήρουν τὴν φυλακήν.

- G254 — ἅλυσις (hálysis, hal'-oo-sis): a light chain — of uncertain derivation; a fetter or manacle:--bonds, chain.

- G2374 — θύρα (thýra, thoo'-rah): a door, opportunity — apparently a primary word (compare "door"); a portal or entrance (the opening or the closure, literally or figuratively):--door, gate.
- G2837 — κοιμάω (koimáō, koy-mah'-o): I fall asleep, am asleep — from κεῖμαι; to put to sleep, i.e. (passively or reflexively) to slumber; figuratively, to decease:--(be a-, fall a-, fall on) sleep, be dead.
- G3195 — μέλλω (méllō, mel'-lo): I am about to — a strengthened form of μέλω (through the idea of expectation); to intend, i.e. be about to be, do, or suffer something (of persons or things, especially events; in the sense of purpose, duty, necessity, probability, possibility, or hesitation):--about, after that, be (almost), (that which is, things, + which was for) to come, intend, was to (be), mean, mind, be at the point, (be) ready, + return, shall (begin), (which, that) should (after, afterwards, hereafter) tarry, which was for, will, would, be yet.
- G3342 — μεταξύ (metaxý, met-ax-oo'): meanwhile, afterwards, between — from μετά and a form of σύν; betwixt (of place or person); (of time) as adjective, intervening, or (by implication) adjoining:--between, mean while, next.
- G3571 — νύξ (nýx, noox): the night, night-time — a primary word; "night" (literally or figuratively):-- (mid-)night.
- G3753 — ὅτε (hóte, hot'-eh): when — from ὅς and τέ; at which (thing) too, i.e. when:--after (that), as soon as, that, when, while.

- G5083 — τηρέω (tēréō, tay-reh'-o): I keep, guard, observe — from (a watch; perhaps akin to θεωρέω); to guard (from loss or injury, properly, by keeping the eye upon; and thus differing from φυλάσσω, which is properly to prevent escaping; and from κουστωδία, which implies a fortress or full military lines of apparatus), i.e. to note (a prophecy; figuratively, to fulfil a command); by implication, to detain (in custody; figuratively, to maintain); by extension, to withhold (for personal ends; figuratively, to keep unmarried); by extension, to withhold (for personal ends; figuratively, to keep unmarried):--hold fast, keep(- er), (pre-, re-)serve, watch.
- G5438 — φυλακή (phylakḗ, foo-lak-ay'): a watching, guard, prison, imprisonment — from φυλάσσω; a guarding or (concretely, guard), the act, the person; figuratively, the place, the condition, or (specially), the time (as a division of day or night), literally or figuratively:--cage, hold, (im-)prison(-ment), ward, watch.
