Luke 20:36
| ← Luke 20:35 [words of Jesus] | Luke 20:36 (KJV) [words of Jesus] | Luke 20:37 [words of Jesus] → |
|---|---|---|
But they which shall be accounted worthy to obtain that world, and the resurrection from the dead, neither marry, nor are given in marriage:
|
Neither can they die any more: for they are equal unto the angels; and are the children of God, being the children of the resurrection.
|
Now that the dead are raised, even Moses shewed at the bush, when he calleth the Lord the God of Abraham, and the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob.

Strong's References
- G386 — ἀνάστασις (anástasis, an-as'-tas-is): a rising again, resurrection — from ἀνίστημι; a standing up again, i.e. (literally) a resurrection from death (individual, genitive case or by implication, (its author)), or (figuratively) a (moral) recovery (of spiritual truth):--raised to life again, resurrection, rise from the dead, that should rise, rising again.
- G599 — ἀποθνήσκω (apothnḗskō, ap-oth-nace'-ko): I am dying, am about to die — from ἀπό and θνήσκω; to die off (literally or figuratively):--be dead, death, die, lie a-dying, be slain (X with).
- G1063 — γάρ (gár, gar): for — a primary particle; properly, assigning a reason (used in argument, explanation or intensification; often with other particles):--and, as, because (that), but, even, for, indeed, no doubt, seeing, then, therefore, verily, what, why, yet.
- G1410 — δύναμαι (dýnamai, doo'-nam-ahee): I am powerful, am able — of uncertain affinity; to be able or possible:--be able, can (do, + -not), could, may, might, be possible, be of power.
- G1526 — εἰσί (eisí, i-see'): 3rd person plural present indicative of εἰμί; they are:--agree, are, be, dure, X is, were.
- G2089 — ἔτι (éti, et'-ee): still, yet, even now — perhaps akin to ἔτος; "yet," still (of time or degree):--after that, also, ever, (any) further, (t-)henceforth (more), hereafter, (any) longer, (any) more(-one), now, still, yet.
- G2316 — θεός (theós, theh'-os): God, a god — of uncertain affinity; a deity, especially (with ὁ) the supreme Divinity; figuratively, a magistrate; by Hebraism, very:--X exceeding, God, god(-ly, -ward).
- G2465 — ἰσάγγελος (isángelos, ee-sang'-el-los): like the angels — from ἴσος and ἄγγελος; like an angel, i.e. angelic:--equal unto the angels.
- G2532 — καί (kaí, kahee): and, even, also, namely — apparently, a primary particle, having a copulative and sometimes also a cumulative force; and, also, even, so then, too, etc.; often used in connection (or composition) with other particles or small words:--and, also, both, but, even, for, if, or, so, that, then, therefore, when, yet.
- G3777 — οὔτε (oúte, oo'-teh): and not, neither, nor — from οὐ and τέ; not too, i.e. neither or nor; by analogy, not even:--neither, none, nor (yet), (no, yet) not, nothing.
- G5207 — υἱός (huiós, hwee-os'): a son, descendent — apparently a primary word; a "son" (sometimes of animals), used very widely of immediate, remote or figuratively, kinship:--child, foal, son.
