1 Corinthians 15:53
| ← 1 Corinthians 15:52 | 1 Corinthians 15:53 (KJV) | 1 Corinthians 15:54 → |
|---|---|---|
In a moment, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trump: for the trumpet shall sound, and the dead shall be raised incorruptible, and we shall be changed.
|
For this corruptible must put on incorruption, and this mortal [must] put on immortality.
|
So when this corruptible shall have put on incorruption, and this mortal shall have put on immortality, then shall be brought to pass the saying that is written, Death is swallowed up in victory.

athanasian | G110 | N-ASF | immortality |
- G110 — ἀθανασία (athanasía, ath-an-as-ee'-ah): immortality — from a compound of Α (as a negative particle) and θάνατος; deathlessness:--immortality.
- G861 — ἀφθαρσία (aphtharsía, af-thar-see'-ah): indestructibility, incorruptibility, immortality — from ἄφθαρτος; incorruptibility; genitive, unending existence; (figuratively) genuineness:--immortality, incorruption, sincerity.
- G1063 — γάρ (gár, gar): for — a primary particle; properly, assigning a reason (used in argument, explanation or intensification; often with other particles):--and, as, because (that), but, even, for, indeed, no doubt, seeing, then, therefore, verily, what, why, yet.
- G1163 — δεῖ (deî, die): it is necessary, inevitable — 3rd person singular active present of δέω; also deon deh-on'; neuter active participle of the same; both used impersonally; it is (was, etc.) necessary (as binding):--behoved, be meet, must (needs), (be) need(-ful), ought, should.
- G1746 — ἐνδύω (endýō, en-doo'-o): I put on, clothe — from ἐν and δύνω (in the sense of sinking into a garment); to invest with clothing (literally or figuratively):--array, clothe (with), endue, have (put) on.
- G2349 — θνητός (thnētós, thnay-tos'): mortal — from θνήσκω; liable to die:--mortal(-ity).
- G2532 — καί (kaí, kahee): and, even, also, namely — apparently, a primary particle, having a copulative and sometimes also a cumulative force; and, also, even, so then, too, etc.; often used in connection (or composition) with other particles or small words:--and, also, both, but, even, for, if, or, so, that, then, therefore, when, yet.
- G5124 — τοῦτο (toûto, too'-to): neuter singular nominative or accusative case of οὗτος; that thing:--here (-unto), it, partly, self(-same), so, that (intent), the same, there(-fore, -unto), this, thus, where(-fore).
- G5349 — φθαρτός (phthartós, fthar-tos'): corruptible, perishable — from φθείρω; decayed, i.e. (by implication) perishable:--corruptible.
The following Strong's numbers are referenced in the Greek (Textus Receptus, Scrivener 1894) text but were not explicitly tagged in the KJV source:
- G3588 — ὁ (ho, ho): the — the definite article; the (sometimes to be supplied, at others omitted, in English idiom):--the, this, that, one, he, she, it, etc.
