And as they departed, Jesus began to say unto the multitudes concerning John, What went ye out into the wilderness to see? A reed shaken with the wind?

But what went ye out for to see? A man clothed in soft raiment? behold, they that wear soft [clothing] are in kings' houses.

- G417 — ἄνεμος (ánemos, an'-em-os): the wind — from the base of ἀήρ; wind; (plural) by implication, (the four) quarters (of the earth):--wind.
- G756 — ἄρχομαι (árchomai, ar'-khom-ahee): I begin — middle voice of ἄρχω (through the implication, of precedence); to commence (in order of time):--(rehearse from the) begin(-ning).

- G2424 — Ἰησοῦς (Iēsoûs, ee-ay-sooce'): Jesus — of Hebrew origin (יְהוֹשׁוּעַ); Jesus (i.e. Jehoshua), the name of our Lord and two (three) other Israelites:--Jesus.

- G4531 — σαλεύω (saleúō, sal-yoo'-o): I shake, excite — from σάλος; to waver, i.e. agitate, rock, topple or (by implication) destroy; figuratively, to disturb, incite:--move, shake (together), which can(-not) be shaken, stir up.
