Then Herod, when he saw that he was mocked of the wise men, was exceeding wroth, and sent forth, and slew all the children that were in Bethlehem, and in all the coasts thereof, from two years old and under, according to the time which he had diligently enquired of the wise men.

- G198 — ἀκριβόω (akribóō, ak-ree-bo'-o): I examine carefully, inquire strictly — from the same as ἀκριβέστατος; to be exact, i.e. ascertain:--enquire diligently.
- G337 — ἀναιρέω (anairéō, an-ahee-reh'-o): I take up, abolish, murder — from ἀνά and (the active of) αἱρέομαι; to take up, i.e. adopt; by implication, to take away (violently), i.e. abolish, murder:--put to death, kill, slay, take away, take up.
- G575 — ἀπό (apó, apo'): from, away from — a primary particle; "off," i.e. away (from something near), in various senses (of place, time, or relation; literal or figurative):--(X here-)after, ago, at, because of, before, by (the space of), for(-th), from, in, (out) of, off, (up-)on(-ce), since, with. In composition (as a prefix) it usually denotes separation, departure, cessation, completion, reversal, etc.
- G649 — ἀποστέλλω (apostéllō, ap-os-tel'-lo): I send forth, send, send away, dismiss — from ἀπό and στέλλω; set apart, i.e. (by implication) to send out (properly, on a mission) literally or figuratively:--put in, send (away, forth, out), set (at liberty).

- G965 — Βηθλεέμ (Bēthleém, bayth-leh-em'): Bethlehem — of Hebrew origin (בֵּית לְעַפְרָה); Bethleem (i.e. Beth-lechem), a place in Palestine:--Bethlehem.

- G2264 — Ἡρώδης (Hērṓdēs, hay-ro'-dace): Herod — compound of (a "hero") and εἶδος; heroic; Herod, the name of four Jewish kings:--Herod.
- G2373 — θυμόω (thymóō, tho-mo'-o): I provoke to anger, am full of angry passion — from θυμός; to put in a passion, i.e. enrage:--be wroth.

In composition it retains many of these applications, and frequently denotes opposition, distribution, or intensity.
- G2736 — κάτω (kátō, kat'-o): down, below, lower, under, less — (compare κατώτερος); adverb from κατά; downwards:--beneath, bottom, down, under.
- G3029 — λίαν (lían, lee'-an): very, very much, exceedingly — of uncertain affinity; much (adverbially):--exceeding, great(-ly), sore, very (+ chiefest).
- G3097 — μάγος (mágos, mag'-os): a sorcerer, magician, wizard — of foreign origin (רַב־מָג); a Magian, i.e. Oriental scientist; by implication, a magician:--sorcerer, wise man.
- G3725 — ὅριον (hórion, hor'-ee-on): districts, territory — neuter of a derivative of an apparently primary (a bound or limit); a boundary-line, i.e. (by implication) a frontier (region):--border, coast.
- G3739 — ὅς (hós, hos): who, which, what, that — probably a primary word (or perhaps a form of the article ὁ); the relatively (sometimes demonstrative) pronoun, who, which, what, that:--one, (an-, the) other, some, that, what, which, who(-m, -se), etc. See also οὗ.
- G3754 — ὅτι (hóti, hot'-ee): that, since, because — neuter of ὅστις as conjunction; demonstrative, that (sometimes redundant); causative, because:--as concerning that, as though, because (that), for (that), how (that), (in) that, though, why.
- G3816 — παῖς (paîs, paheece): a boy or girl child — perhaps from παίω; a boy (as often beaten with impunity), or (by analogy), a girl, and (genitive case) a child; specially, a slave or servant (especially a minister to a king; and by eminence to God):--child, maid(-en), (man) servant, son, young man.
- G3844 — παρά (pará, par-ah'): from, in the presence of — a primary preposition; properly, near; i.e. (with genitive case) from beside (literally or figuratively), (with dative case) at (or in) the vicinity of (objectively or subjectively), (with accusative case) to the proximity with (local (especially beyond or opposed to) or causal (on account of):--above, against, among, at, before, by, contrary to, X friend, from, + give (such things as they), + that (she) had, X his, in, more than, nigh unto, (out) of, past, save, side…by, in the sight of, than, (there-)fore, with. In compounds it retains the same variety of application.
- G3956 — πᾶς (pâs, pas): all, the whole, every kind of — including all the forms of declension; apparently a primary word; all, any, every, the whole:--all (manner of, means), alway(-s), any (one), X daily, + ever, every (one, way), as many as, + no(-thing), X thoroughly, whatsoever, whole, whosoever.
- G5119 — τότε (tóte, tot'-eh): then — from (the neuter of) ὁ and ὅτε; the when, i.e. at the time that (of the past or future, also in consecution):--that time, then.
- G5259 — ὑπό (hypó, hoop-o'): by, under, about — a primary preposition; under, i.e. (with the genitive case) of place (beneath), or with verbs (the agency or means, through); (with the accusative case) of place (whither (underneath) or where (below) or time (when (at)):--among, by, from, in, of, under, with.
