When ye therefore shall see the abomination of desolation, spoken of by Daniel the prophet, stand in the holy place, (whoso readeth, let him understand:)

- G40 — ἅγιος (hágios, hag'-ee-os): set apart, holy, sacred — from (an awful thing) (compare ἁγνός, θάλπω); sacred (physically, pure, morally blameless or religious, ceremonially, consecrated):--(most) holy (one, thing), saint.
- G314 — ἀναγινώσκω (anaginṓskō, an-ag-in-oce'-ko): I read — from ἀνά and γινώσκω; to know again, i.e. (by extension) to read:--read.
- G946 — βδέλυγμα (bdélygma, bdel'-oog-mah): an abominable thing, an accursed thing — from βδελύσσω; a detestation, i.e. (specially) idolatry:--abomination.
- G1158 — Δανιήλ (Daniḗl, dan-ee-ale'): Daniel — of Hebrew origin (דָנִיֵּאל); Daniel, an Israelite:--Daniel.
- G1223 — διά (diá, dee-ah'): through, on account of — a primary preposition denoting the channel of an act; through (in very wide applications, local, causal, or occasional):--after, always, among, at, to avoid, because of (that), briefly, by, for (cause) … fore, from, in, by occasion of, of, by reason of, for sake, that, thereby, therefore, X though, through(-out), to, wherefore, with (-in). In composition it retains the same general importance.
- G1492 — εἴδω (eídō, i'-do): I know, remember — a primary verb; used only in certain past tenses, the others being borrowed from the equivalent ὀπτάνομαι and ὁράω; properly, to see (literally or figuratively); by implication, (in the perfect tense only) to know:--be aware, behold, X can (+ not tell), consider, (have) know(-ledge), look (on), perceive, see, be sure, tell, understand, wish, wot. Compare ὀπτάνομαι.
- G1722 — ἐν (en, en): in, on, among — a primary preposition denoting (fixed) position (in place, time or state), and (by implication) instrumentality (medially or constructively), i.e. a relation of rest (intermediate between εἰς and ἐκ); "in," at, (up-)on, by, etc.:--about, after, against, + almost, X altogether, among, X as, at, before, between, (here-)by (+ all means), for (… sake of), + give self wholly to, (here-)in(-to, -wardly), X mightily, (because) of, (up-)on, (open-)ly, X outwardly, one, X quickly, X shortly, (speedi-)ly, X that, X there(-in, -on), through(-out), (un-)to(-ward), under, when, where(-with), while, with(-in). Often used in compounds, with substantially the same import; rarely with verbs of motion, and then not to indicate direction, except (elliptically) by a separate (and different) preposition.
- G2050 — ἐρήμωσις (erḗmōsis, er-ay'-mo-sis): desolation, devastation — from ἐρημόω; despoliation:--desolation.
- G2476 — ἵστημι (hístēmi, his'-tay-mee): I cause to stand, stand — a prolonged form of a primary (of the same meaning, and used for it in certain tenses); to stand (transitively or intransitively), used in various applications (literally or figuratively):--abide, appoint, bring, continue, covenant, establish, hold up, lay, present, set (up), stanch, stand (by, forth, still, up). Compare τίθημι.
- G3539 — νοιέω (noiéō, noy-eh'-o): I understand, consider — from νοῦς; to exercise the mind (observe), i.e. (figuratively) to comprehend, heed:--consider, perceive, think, understand.
- G3752 — ὅταν (hótan, hot'-an): when, whensoever — from ὅτε and ἄν; whenever (implying hypothesis or more or less uncertainty); also causatively (conjunctionally) inasmuch as:--as long (soon) as, that, + till, when(-soever), while.
- G3767 — οὖν (oûn, oon): therefore, then — apparently a primary word; (adverbially) certainly, or (conjunctionally) accordingly:--and (so, truly), but, now (then), so (likewise then), then, therefore, verily, wherefore.
- G4396 — προφήτης (prophḗtēs, prof-ay'-tace): a prophet, poet — from a compound of πρό and φημί; a foreteller ("prophet"); by analogy, an inspired speaker; by extension, a poet:--prophet.
- G4483 — ῥέω (rhéō, hreh'-o): ἔπωperhaps akin (or identical) with ῥέω (through the idea of pouring forth); to utter, i.e. speak or say:--command, make, say, speak (of). Compare λέγω.
- G5117 — τόπος (tópos, top'-os): a place — apparently a primary word; a spot (general in space, but limited by occupancy; whereas χώρα is a large but participle locality), i.e. location (as a position, home, tract, etc.); figuratively, condition, opportunity; specially, a scabbard:--coast, licence, place, X plain, quarter, + rock, room, where.
The following Strong's numbers are referenced in the Greek (Textus Receptus, Scrivener 1894) text but were not explicitly tagged in the KJV source:
- G3588 — ὁ (ho, ho): the — the definite article; the (sometimes to be supplied, at others omitted, in English idiom):--the, this, that, one, he, she, it, etc.
