Acts 24:10

Acts 24:9 Acts 24:10 (KJV) Acts 24:11
And the Jews also assented, saying that these things were so.
Then Paul, after that the governor had beckoned unto him to speak, answered, Forasmuch as I know that thou hast been of many years a judge unto this nation, I do the more cheerfully answer for myself:
Because that thou mayest understand, that there are yet but twelve days since I went up to Jerusalem for to worship.

Strong's References
  • G611 — ἀποκρίνομαι (apokrínomai, ap-ok-ree'-nom-ahee): I answer, reply — from ἀπό and ; to conclude for oneself, i.e. (by implication) to respond; by Hebraism (compare עָנָה) to begin to speak (where an address is expected):--answer.
  • G626 — ἀπολογέομαι (apologéomai, ap-ol-og-eh'-om-ahee): I give a defense, defend myself — middle voice from a compound of ἀπό and λόγος; to give an account (legal plea) of oneself, i.e. exculpate (self):--answer (for self), make defence, excuse (self), speak for self.
  • G846 — αὐτός (autós, ow-tos'): he, she, it, they, them, same — from the particle (perhaps akin to the base of ἀήρ through the idea of a baffling wind) (backward); the reflexive pronoun self, used (alone or in the comparative ἑαυτοῦ) of the third person , and (with the proper personal pronoun) of the other persons:--her, it(-self), one, the other, (mine) own, said, (self-), the) same, ((him-, my-, thy- )self, (your-)selves, she, that, their(-s), them(-selves), there(-at, - by, -in, -into, -of, -on, -with), they, (these) things, this (man), those, together, very, which. Compare αὑτοῦ.
  • G1161 — δέ (dé, deh): but, on the other hand, and — a primary particle (adversative or continuative); but, and, etc.:--also, and, but, moreover, now (often unexpressed in English).
  • G1484 — ἔθνος (éthnos, eth'-nos): a race, people, the Gentiles — probably from ἔθω; a race (as of the same habit), i.e. a tribe; specially, a foreign (non-Jewish) one (usually, by implication, pagan):--Gentile, heathen, nation, people.
  • G1537 — ἐκ (ek, ek): from out, out from among, from — a primary preposition denoting origin (the point whence action or motion proceeds), from, out (of place, time, or cause; literal or figurative; direct or remote):--after, among, X are, at, betwixt(-yond), by (the means of), exceedingly, (+ abundantly above), for(- th), from (among, forth, up), + grudgingly, + heartily, X heavenly, X hereby, + very highly, in, …ly, (because, by reason) of, off (from), on, out among (from, of), over, since, X thenceforth, through, X unto, X vehemently, with(-out). Often used in composition, with the same general import; often of completion.
  • G1683 — ἐμαυτοῦ (emautoû, em-ow-too'): of myself — genitive case compound of ἐμοῦ and αὐτός; of myself so likewise the dative case , and accusative case  :--me, mine own (self), myself.
  • G1987 — ἐπίσταμαι (epístamai, ep-is'-tam-ahee): I know, understand — apparently a middle voice of ἐφίστημι (with νοῦς implied); to put the mind upon, i.e. comprehend, or be acquainted with:--know, understand.
  • G2094 — ἔτος (étos, et'-os): a year — apparently a primary word; a year:--year.
  • G2115 — εὔθυμος (eúthymos, yoo'-thoo-mos): cheerful, having good courage — from εὖ and θυμός; in fine spirits, i.e. cheerful:--of good cheer, the more cheerfully.
  • G2232 — ἡγεμών (hēgemṓn, hayg-em-ohn'): a governor — from ἡγέομαι; a leader, i.e. chief person (or figuratively, place) of a province:--governor, prince, ruler.
  • G2923 — κριτής (kritḗs, kree-tace'): a judge — from κρίνω; a judge (genitive case or specially):--judge.
  • G3004 — λέγω (légō, leg'-o): I say, speak — a primary verb; properly, to "lay" forth, i.e. (figuratively) relate (in words (usually of systematic or set discourse; whereas ἔπω and φημί generally refer to an individual expression or speech respectively; while ῥέω is properly to break silence merely, and λαλέω means an extended or random harangue)); by implication, to mean:--ask, bid, boast, call, describe, give out, name, put forth, say(-ing, on), shew, speak, tell, utter.
  • G3506 — νεύω (neúō, nyoo'-o): I nod, make a sign — apparently a primary verb; to "nod", i.e. (by analogy), signal:--beckon.
  • G3972 — Παῦλος (Paûlos, pow'-los): Paul — of Latin origin; (little; but remotely from a derivative of παύω, meaning the same); Paulus, the name of a Roman and of an apostle:--Paul, Paulus.
  • G4012 — περί (perí, per-ee'): about, concerning, around — from the base of πέραν; properly, through (all over), i.e. around; figuratively with respect to; used in various applications, of place, cause or time (with the genitive case denoting the subject or occasion or superlative point; with the accusative case the locality, circuit, matter, circumstance or general period):--(there-)about, above, against, at, on behalf of, X and his company, which concern, (as) concerning, for, X how it will go with, ((there-, where-)) of, on, over, pertaining (to), for sake, X (e-)state, (as) touching, (where-)by (in), with. In comparative, it retains substantially the same meaning of circuit (around), excess (beyond), or completeness (through).
