Acts 24:26
| ← Acts 24:25 | Acts 24:26 (KJV) | Acts 24:27 → |
|---|---|---|
And as he reasoned of righteousness, temperance, and judgment to come, Felix trembled, and answered, Go thy way for this time; when I have a convenient season, I will call for thee.
|
He hoped also that money should have been given him of Paul, that he might loose him: wherefore he sent for him the oftener, and communed with him.
|
But after two years Porcius Festus came into Felix' room: and Felix, willing to shew the Jews a pleasure, left Paul bound.

Strong's References
- G260 — ἅμα (háma, ham'-ah): at the same time, along with — a primary particle; properly, at the "same" time, but freely used as a preposition or adverb denoting close association:--also, and, together, with(-al).
- G846 — αὐτός (autós, ow-tos'): he, she, it, they, them, same — from the particle (perhaps akin to the base of ἀήρ through the idea of a baffling wind) (backward); the reflexive pronoun self, used (alone or in the comparative ἑαυτοῦ) of the third person , and (with the proper personal pronoun) of the other persons:--her, it(-self), one, the other, (mine) own, said, (self-), the) same, ((him-, my-, thy- )self, (your-)selves, she, that, their(-s), them(-selves), there(-at, - by, -in, -into, -of, -on, -with), they, (these) things, this (man), those, together, very, which. Compare αὑτοῦ.
- G1161 — δέ (dé, deh): but, on the other hand, and — a primary particle (adversative or continuative); but, and, etc.:--also, and, but, moreover, now (often unexpressed in English).
- G1325 — δίδωμι (dídōmi, did'-o-mee): I offer, give — a prolonged form of a primary verb (which is used as an alternative in most of the tenses); to give (used in a very wide application, properly, or by implication, literally or figuratively; greatly modified by the connection):--adventure, bestow, bring forth, commit, deliver (up), give, grant, hinder, make, minister, number, offer, have power, put, receive, set, shew, smite (+ with the hand), strike (+ with the palm of the hand), suffer, take, utter, yield.
- G1352 — διό (dió, dee-o'): wherefore — from διά and ὅς; through which thing, i.e. consequently:--for which cause, therefore, wherefore.
- G1679 — ἐλπίζω (elpízō, el-pid'-zo): I hope, hope for, expect — from ἐλπίς; to expect or confide:--(have, thing) hope(-d) (for), trust.
- G2532 — καί (kaí, kahee): and, even, also, namely — apparently, a primary particle, having a copulative and sometimes also a cumulative force; and, also, even, so then, too, etc.; often used in connection (or composition) with other particles or small words:--and, also, both, but, even, for, if, or, so, that, then, therefore, when, yet.
- G3089 — λύω (lýō, loo'-o): I loose, untie, release, destroy — a primary verb; to "loosen" (literally or figuratively):--break (up), destroy, dissolve, (un-)loose, melt, put off. Compare ῥήγνυμι.
- G3343 — μεταπέμπω (metapémpō, met-ap-emp'-o): I send for, summon — from μετά and πέμπω; to send from elsewhere, i.e. (middle voice) to summon or invite:--call (send) for.
- G3656 — ὁμιλέω (homiléō, hom-il-eh'-o): I associate with, talk with — from ὅμιλος; to be in company with, i.e. (by implication) to converse:--commune, talk.
- G3704 — ὅπως (hópōs, hop'-oce): how, in order that, so that — from ὅς and πῶς; what(-ever) how, i.e. in the manner that (as adverb or conjunction of coincidence, intentional or actual):--because, how, (so) that, to, when.
- G3754 — ὅτι (hóti, hot'-ee): that, since, because — neuter of ὅστις as conjunction; demonstrative, that (sometimes redundant); causative, because:--as concerning that, as though, because (that), for (that), how (that), (in) that, though, why.
- G3972 — Παῦλος (Paûlos, pow'-los): Paul — of Latin origin; (little; but remotely from a derivative of παύω, meaning the same); Paulus, the name of a Roman and of an apostle:--Paul, Paulus.
- G4437 — πυκνός (pyknós, pook-nos'): frequent, often — from the same as σκηνοποιός; clasped (thick), i.e. (figuratively) frequent; neuter plural (as adverb) frequently:--often(-er).
- G5259 — ὑπό (hypó, hoop-o'): by, under, about — a primary preposition; under, i.e. (with the genitive case) of place (beneath), or with verbs (the agency or means, through); (with the accusative case) of place (whither (underneath) or where (below) or time (when (at)):--among, by, from, in, of, under, with. In the comparative, it retains the same general applications, especially of inferior position or condition, and specially, covertly or moderately.
- G5536 — χρῆμα (chrēma, khray'-mah): money, riches —
