|---|---|---|
And began to salute him, Hail, King of the Jews!
|
And they smote him on the head with a reed, and did spit upon him, and bowing [their] knees worshipped him.
|
And when they had mocked him, they took off the purple from him, and put his own clothes on him, and led him out to crucify him.

Strong's References
- G846 — αὐτός (autós, ow-tos'): he, she, it, they, them, same — from the particle (perhaps akin to the base of ἀήρ through the idea of a baffling wind) (backward); the reflexive pronoun self, used (alone or in the comparative ἑαυτοῦ) of the third person , and (with the proper personal pronoun) of the other persons:--her, it(-self), one, the other, (mine) own, said, (self-), the) same, ((him-, my-, thy- )self, (your-)selves, she, that, their(-s), them(-selves), there(-at, - by, -in, -into, -of, -on, -with), they, (these) things, this (man), those, together, very, which. Compare αὑτοῦ.
- G1119 — γόνυ (góny, gon-oo'): a knee — of uncertain affinity; the "knee":--knee(X -l).
- G1716 — ἐμπτύω (emptýō, emp-too'-o): I spit upon — from ἐν and πτύω; to spit at or on:--spit (upon).
- G2532 — καί (kaí, kahee): and, even, also, namely — apparently, a primary particle, having a copulative and sometimes also a cumulative force; and, also, even, so then, too, etc.; often used in connection (or composition) with other particles or small words:--and, also, both, but, even, for, if, or, so, that, then, therefore, when, yet.
- G2563 — κάλαμος (kálamos, kal'-am-os): a reed, reed-pen — of uncertain affinity; a reed (the plant or its stem, or that of a similar plant); by implication, a pen:--pen, reed.
- G2776 — κεφαλή (kephalḗ, kef-al-ay'): the head — from the primary (in the sense of seizing); the head (as the part most readily taken hold of), literally or figuratively:--head.
- G4352 — προσκυνέω (proskynéō, pros-koo-neh'-o): I worship — from πρός and a probable derivative of κύων (meaning to kiss, like a dog licking his master's hand); to fawn or crouch to, i.e. (literally or figuratively) prostrate oneself in homage (do reverence to, adore):--worship.
- G5087 — τίθημι (títhēmi, tith'-ay-mee): I put, place — a prolonged form of a primary (which is used only as alternate in certain tenses); to place (in the widest application, literally and figuratively; properly, in a passive or horizontal posture, and thus different from ἵστημι, which properly denotes an upright and active position, while κεῖμαι is properly reflexive and utterly prostrate):--+ advise, appoint, bow, commit, conceive, give, X kneel down, lay (aside, down, up), make, ordain, purpose, put, set (forth), settle, sink down.
- G5180 — τύπτω (týptō, toop'-to): I beat, strike, wound, inflict punishment — a primary verb (in a strengthened form); to "thump", i.e. cudgel or pummel (properly, with a stick or bastinado), but in any case by repeated blows; thus differing from παίω and πατάσσω, which denote a (usually single) blow with the hand or any instrument, or πλήσσω with the fist (or a hammer), or ῥαπίζω with the palm; as well as from τυγχάνω, an accidental collision); by implication, to punish; figuratively, to offend (the conscience):--beat, smite, strike, wound.
The following Strong's numbers are referenced in the Greek (Textus Receptus, Scrivener 1894) text but were not explicitly tagged in the KJV source:
- G3588 — ὁ (ho, ho): the — the definite article; the (sometimes to be supplied, at others omitted, in English idiom):--the, this, that, one, he, she, it, etc.
