But was rebuked for his iniquity: the dumb ass speaking with man's voice forbad the madness of the prophet.

These are wells without water, clouds that are carried with a tempest; to whom the mist of darkness is reserved for ever.
|
For when they speak great swelling [words] of vanity, they allure through the lusts of the flesh, [through much] wantonness, those that were clean escaped from them who live in error.

- G165 — αἰών (aiṓn, ahee-ohn'): an age, a cycle of time — from the same as ἀεί; properly, an age; by extension, perpetuity (also past); by implication, the world; specially (Jewish) a Messianic period (present or future):--age, course, eternal, (for) ever(-more), (n-)ever, (beginning of the , while the) world (began, without end). Compare χρόνος.
- G504 — ἄνυδρος (ánydros, an'-oo-dros): without water, dry — from Α (as a negative particle) and ὕδωρ; waterless, i.e. dry:--dry, without water.
- G1519 — εἰς (eis, ice): into, in, among, till, for — a primary preposition; to or into (indicating the point reached or entered), of place, time, or (figuratively) purpose (result, etc.); also in adverbial phrases:--(abundant-)ly, against, among, as, at, (back-)ward, before, by, concerning, + continual, + far more exceeding, for (intent, purpose), fore, + forth, in (among, at, unto, -so much that, -to), to the intent that, + of one mind, + never, of, (up-)on, + perish, + set at one again, (so) that, therefore(-unto), throughout, til, to (be, the end, -ward), (here-)until(-to), …ward, (where-)fore, with. Often used in composition with the same general import, but only with verbs (etc.) expressing motion (literally or figuratively).
- G1526 — εἰσί (eisí, i-see'): 3rd person plural present indicative of εἰμί; they are:--agree, are, be, dure, X is, were.
- G1643 — ἐλαύνω (elaúnō, el-ow'-no): I drive on, propel, row — a prolonged form of a primary verb (obsolete except in certain tenses as an alternative of this) of uncertain affinity; to push (as wind, oars or dæmonical power):--carry, drive, row.
- G2217 — ζόφος (zóphos, dzof'-os): darkness, murkiness — akin to the base of νέφος; gloom (as shrouding like a cloud):--blackness, darkness, mist.
- G2978 — λαῖλαψ (laîlaps, lah'-ee-laps): a sudden storm, squall — of uncertain derivation; a whirlwind (squall):--storm, tempest.
- G3507 — νεφέλη (nephélē, nef-el'-ay): a cloud — from νέφος; properly, cloudiness, i.e. (concretely) a cloud:--cloud.
- G3739 — ὅς (hós, hos): who, which, what, that — probably a primary word (or perhaps a form of the article ὁ); the relatively (sometimes demonstrative) pronoun, who, which, what, that:--one, (an-, the) other, some, that, what, which, who(-m, -se), etc. See also οὗ.
- G3778 — οὗτος (hoûtos, hoo'-tos): this, he, she, it — from the article ὁ and αὐτός; the he (she or it), i.e. this or that (often with article repeated):--he (it was that), hereof, it, she, such as, the same, these, they, this (man, same, woman), which, who.
- G4077 — πηγή (pēgḗ, pay-gay'): a fountain, spring, well — probably from πήγνυμι (through the idea of gushing plumply); a fount (literally or figuratively), i.e. source or supply (of water, blood, enjoyment) (not necessarily the original spring):--fountain, well.
- G4655 — σκότος (skótos, skot'-os): darkness — from the base of σκιά; shadiness, i.e. obscurity (literally or figuratively):--darkness.
- G5083 — τηρέω (tēréō, tay-reh'-o): I keep, guard, observe — from (a watch; perhaps akin to θεωρέω); to guard (from loss or injury, properly, by keeping the eye upon; and thus differing from φυλάσσω, which is properly to prevent escaping; and from κουστωδία, which implies a fortress or full military lines of apparatus), i.e. to note (a prophecy; figuratively, to fulfil a command); by implication, to detain (in custody; figuratively, to maintain); by extension, to withhold (for personal ends; figuratively, to keep unmarried); by extension, to withhold (for personal ends; figuratively, to keep unmarried):--hold fast, keep(- er), (pre-, re-)serve, watch.
- G5259 — ὑπό (hypó, hoop-o'): by, under, about — a primary preposition; under, i.e. (with the genitive case) of place (beneath), or with verbs (the agency or means, through); (with the accusative case) of place (whither (underneath) or where (below) or time (when (at)):--among, by, from, in, of, under, with. In the comparative, it retains the same general applications, especially of inferior position or condition, and specially, covertly or moderately.
The following Strong's numbers are referenced in the Greek (Textus Receptus, Scrivener 1894) text but were not explicitly tagged in the KJV source:
- G3588 — ὁ (ho, ho): the — the definite article; the (sometimes to be supplied, at others omitted, in English idiom):--the, this, that, one, he, she, it, etc.
