Romans 9:27

Romans 9:26 Romans 9:27 (KJV) Romans 9:28
And it shall come to pass, [that] in the place where it was said unto them, Ye [are] not my people; there shall they be called the children of the living God.
Esaias also crieth concerning Israel, Though the number of the children of Israel be as the sand of the sea, a remnant shall be saved:
For he will finish the work, and cut [it] short in righteousness: because a short work will the Lord make upon the earth.

Strong's References
  • G285 — ἄμμος (ámmos, am'-mos): sand — perhaps from ἅμα; sand (as heaped on the beach):--sand.
  • G706 — ἀριθμός (arithmós, ar-ith-mos'): a number, total — from αἴρω; a number (as reckoned up):--number.
  • G1161 — δέ (dé, deh): but, on the other hand, and — a primary particle (adversative or continuative); but, and, etc.:--also, and, but, moreover, now (often unexpressed in English).
  • G1437 — ἐάν (eán, eh-an'): if — from εἰ and ἄν; a conditional particle; in case that, provided, etc.; often used in connection with other particles to denote indefiniteness or uncertainty:--before, but, except, (and) if, (if) so, (what-, whither-)soever, though, when (-soever), whether (or), to whom, (who-)so(-ever). See μή.
  • G2268 — Ἡσαΐας (Hēsaḯas, hay-sah-ee'-as): Isaiah — of Hebrew origin (יְשַׁעְיָה); Hesaias (i.e. Jeshajah), an Israelite:--Esaias.
  • G2281 — θάλασσα (thálassa, thal'-as-sah): the sea, lake — probably prolonged from ἅλς; the sea (genitive case or specially):--sea.
  • G2474 — Ἰσραήλ (Israḗl, is-rah-ale'): Israel — of Hebrew origin (יִשְׂרָאֵל); Israel (i.e. Jisrael), the adopted name of Jacob, including his descendants (literally or figuratively):--Israel.
  • G2640 — κατάλειμμα (katáleimma, kat-al'-ime-mah): a remnant, small residue — from καταλείπω; a remainder, i.e. (by implication) a few:--remnant.
  • G2896 — κράζω (krázō, krad'-zo): I cry aloud, shriek — a primary verb; properly, to "croak" (as a raven) or scream, i.e. (genitive case) to call aloud (shriek, exclaim, intreat):--cry (out).
  • G4982 — σώζω (sṓzō, sode'-zo): I save, heal — from a primary (contraction for obsolete , "safe"); to save, i.e. deliver or protect (literally or figuratively):--heal, preserve, save (self), do well, be (make) whole.
  • G5207 — υἱός (huiós, hwee-os'): a son, descendent — apparently a primary word; a "son" (sometimes of animals), used very widely of immediate, remote or figuratively, kinship:--child, foal, son.
  • G5228 — ὑπέρ (hypér, hoop-er'): in behalf of, above — a primary preposition; "over", i.e. (with the genitive case) of place, above, beyond, across, or causal, for the sake of, instead, regarding; with the accusative case superior to, more than:--(+ exceeding, abundantly) above, in (on) behalf of, beyond, by, + very chiefest, concerning, exceeding (above, -ly), for, + very highly, more (than), of, over, on the part of, for sake of, in stead, than, to(-ward), very. In the comparative, it retains many of the above applications.

The following Strong's numbers are referenced in the Greek (Textus Receptus, Scrivener 1894) text but were not explicitly tagged in the KJV source:

  • G3588 — ὁ (ho, ho): the — the definite article; the (sometimes to be supplied, at others omitted, in English idiom):--the, this, that, one, he, she, it, etc.
  • G5600 — ὦ (ō, o): the subjunctive of εἰμί; (may, might, can, could, would, should, must, etc.; also with εἰ and its comparative, as well as with other particles) be:--+ appear, are, (may, might, should) be, X have, is, + pass the flower of her age, should stand, were.
  • G5613 — ὡς (hōs, hoce): as, like as, how, while, so that — probably adverb of comparative from ὅς; which how, i.e. in that manner (very variously used, as follows):--about, after (that), (according) as (it had been, it were), as soon (as), even as (like), for, how (greatly), like (as, unto), since, so (that), that, to wit, unto, when(-soever), while, X with all speed.
