1 Corinthians 5:6

1 Corinthians 5:5 1 Corinthians 5:6 (KJV) 1 Corinthians 5:7
To deliver such an one unto Satan for the destruction of the flesh, that the spirit may be saved in the day of the Lord Jesus.
Your glorying [is] not good. Know ye not that a little leaven leaveneth the whole lump?
Purge out therefore the old leaven, that ye may be a new lump, as ye are unleavened. For even Christ our passover is sacrificed for us:

Strong's References
  • G1492 — εἴδω (eídō, i'-do): I know, remember — a primary verb; used only in certain past tenses, the others being borrowed from the equivalent ὀπτάνομαι and ὁράω; properly, to see (literally or figuratively); by implication, (in the perfect tense only) to know:--be aware, behold, X can (+ not tell), consider, (have) know(-ledge), look (on), perceive, see, be sure, tell, understand, wish, wot. Compare ὀπτάνομαι.
  • G2219 — ζύμη (zýmē, dzoo'-may): leaven, ferment — probably from ζέω; ferment (as if boiling up):--leaven.
  • G2220 — ζυμόω (zymóō, dzoo-mo'-o): I leaven, ferment — from ζύμη; to cause to ferment:--leaven.
  • G2570 — καλός (kalós, kal-os'): beautiful, good, worthy — of uncertain affinity; properly, beautiful, but chiefly (figuratively) good (literally or morally), i.e. valuable or virtuous (for appearance or use, and thus distinguished from ἀγαθός, which is properly intrinsic):--X better, fair, good(-ly), honest, meet, well, worthy.
  • G2745 — καύχημα (kaúchēma, kow'-khay-mah): a boasting — from καυχάομαι; a boast (properly, the object; by implication, the act) in a good or a bad sense:--boasting, (whereof) to glory (of), glorying, rejoice(-ing).
  • G3398 — μικρός (mikrós, mik-ros'): little, small — apparently a primary word; small (in size, quantity, number or (figuratively) dignity):--least, less, little, small.
  • G3650 — ὅλος (hólos, hol'-os): all, the whole, entire — a primary word; "whole" or "all", i.e. complete (in extent, amount, time or degree), especially (neuter) as noun or adverb:--all, altogether, every whit, + throughout, whole.
  • G3754 — ὅτι (hóti, hot'-ee): that, since, because — neuter of ὅστις as conjunction; demonstrative, that (sometimes redundant); causative, because:--as concerning that, as though, because (that), for (that), how (that), (in) that, though, why.
  • G3756 — οὐ (ou, oo): no, not — a primary word; the absolute negative (compare μή) adverb; no or not:--+ long, nay, neither, never, no (X man), none, (can-)not, + nothing, + special, un(-worthy), when, + without, + yet but. See also οὐ μή, μῆκος.
  • G5216 — ὑμῶν (hymōn, hoo-mone'): genitive case of ὑμεῖς; of (from or concerning) you:--ye, you, your (own, -selves).
  • G5445 — φύραμα (phýrama, foo'-ram-ah): a mass or lump — from a prolonged form of (to mix a liquid with a solid; perhaps akin to φύω through the idea of swelling in bulk), mean to knead; a mass of dough:--lump.

The following Strong's numbers are referenced in the Greek (Textus Receptus, Scrivener 1894) text but were not explicitly tagged in the KJV source:

  • G3588 — ὁ (ho, ho): the — the definite article; the (sometimes to be supplied, at others omitted, in English idiom):--the, this, that, one, he, she, it, etc.
