Song of Solomon 1:5

Song of Solomon 1:4 Song of Solomon 1:5 (KJV) Song of Solomon 1:6
Draw me, we will run after thee: the king hath brought me into his chambers: we will be glad and rejoice in thee, we will remember thy love more than wine: the upright love thee.
I [am] black, but comely, O ye daughters of Jerusalem, as the tents of Kedar, as the curtains of Solomon.
Look not upon me, because I [am] black, because the sun hath looked upon me: my mother's children were angry with me; they made me the keeper of the vineyards; [but] mine own vineyard have I not kept.

Strong's References
  • H168 — אֹהֶל (ʼôhel, o'-hel): from אָהַל; a tent (as clearly conspicuous from a distance); covering, (dwelling) (place), home, tabernacle, tent.
  • H1323 — בַּת (bath, bath): from בָּנָה (as feminine of בֵּן); a daughter (used in the same wide sense as other terms of relationship, literally and figuratively); apple (of the eye), branch, company, daughter, [idiom] first, [idiom] old, [phrase] owl, town, village.
  • H3389 — יְרוּשָׁלַ͏ִם (Yᵉrûwshâlaim, yer-oo-shaw-lah'-im): rarely יְרוּשָׁלַיִם; a dual (in allusion to its two main hills (the true pointing, at least of the former reading, seems to be that of יְרוּשָׁלֵם)); probably from (the passive participle of) יָרָה and שָׁלַם; founded peaceful; Jerushalaim or Jerushalem, the capital city of Palestine; Jerusalem.
  • H3407 — יְרִיעָה (yᵉrîyʻâh, yer-ee-aw'): from יָרַע; a hanging (as tremulous); curtain.
  • H5000 — נָאוֶה (nâʼveh, naw-veh'): from נָאָה or נָוֶה; suitable, or beautiful; becometh, comely, seemly.
  • H6938 — קֵדָר (Qêdâr, kay-dawr'): from קָדַר; dusky (of the skin or the tent); Kedar, a son of Ishmael; also (collectively) Bedouin (as his descendants or representatives); Kedar.
  • H7838 — שָׁחֹר (shâchôr, shaw-khore'): or שָׁחוֹר; from שָׁחַר; properly, dusky, but also (absol.) jetty; black.
  • H8010 — שְׁלֹמֹה (Shᵉlômôh, shel-o-mo'): from שָׁלוֹם; peaceful; Shelomah, David's successor; Solomon.

The following Strong's numbers are referenced in the Hebrew (Westminster Leningrad Codex) text but were not explicitly tagged in the KJV source:

  • H589 — אֲנִי (ʼănîy, an-ee'): lemma אֲנַי second vowel, corrected to אֲנִי; contracted from אָנֹכִי; I; I, (as for) me, mine, myself, we, [idiom] which, [idiom] who.
