Luke 6:25

Luke 6:24 [words of Jesus] Luke 6:25 (KJV) [words of Jesus] Luke 6:26 [words of Jesus]
But woe unto you that are rich! for ye have received your consolation.
Woe unto you that are full! for ye shall hunger. Woe unto you that laugh now! for ye shall mourn and weep.
Woe unto you, when all men shall speak well of you! for so did their fathers to the false prophets.

Strong's References
  • G1070 — γελάω (geláō, ghel-ah'-o): I laugh — of uncertain affinity; to laugh (as a sign of joy or satisfaction):--laugh.
  • G1705 — ἐμπίπλημι (empíplēmi, em-pip'-lay-mee): I fill up, satisfy — from ἐν and the base of πλεῖστος;to fill in (up), i.e. (by implication) to satisfy (literally or figuratively):--fill.
  • G2532 — καί (kaí, kahee): and, even, also, namely — apparently, a primary particle, having a copulative and sometimes also a cumulative force; and, also, even, so then, too, etc.; often used in connection (or composition) with other particles or small words:--and, also, both, but, even, for, if, or, so, that, then, therefore, when, yet.
  • G2799 — κλαίω (klaíō, klah'-yo): I weep, weep for, mourn — of uncertain affinity; to sob, i.e. wail aloud (whereas 1145 is rather to cry silently):--bewail, weep.
  • G3568 — νῦν (nŷn, noon): now, already, at present — a primary particle of present time; "now" (as adverb of date, a transition or emphasis); also as noun or adjective present or immediate:--henceforth, + hereafter, of late, soon, present, this (time). See also τανῦν, νυνί.
  • G3754 — ὅτι (hóti, hot'-ee): that, since, because — neuter of ὅστις as conjunction; demonstrative, that (sometimes redundant); causative, because:--as concerning that, as though, because (that), for (that), how (that), (in) that, though, why.
  • G3759 — οὐαί (ouaí, oo-ah'-ee): woe!, alas! — a primary exclamation of grief; "woe":--alas, woe.
  • G3983 — πεινάω (peináō, pi-nah'-o): I am hungry, needy — from the same as πένης (through the idea of pinching toil; "pine"); to famish (absolutely or comparatively); figuratively, to crave:--be an hungered.
  • G3996 — πενθέω (penthéō, pen-theh'-o): I mourn, lament — from πένθος; to grieve (the feeling or the act):--mourn, (be-)wail.
  • G5213 — ὑμῖν (hymîn, hoo-min'): irregular dative case of ὑμεῖς; to (with or by) you:--ye, you, your(-selves).

The following Strong's numbers are referenced in the Greek (Textus Receptus, Scrivener 1894) text but were not explicitly tagged in the KJV source:

  • G3588 — ὁ (ho, ho): the — the definite article; the (sometimes to be supplied, at others omitted, in English idiom):--the, this, that, one, he, she, it, etc.
