And whosoever shall offend one of [these] little ones that believe in me, it is better for him that a millstone were hanged about his neck, and he were cast into the sea.

And if thy hand offend thee, cut it off: it is better for thee to enter into life maimed, than having two hands to go into hell, into the fire that never shall be quenched:

Where their worm dieth not, and the fire is not quenched.

- G565 — ἀπέρχομαι (apérchomai, ap-erkh'-om-ahee): I come or go away from, depart, return — from ἀπό and ἔρχομαι; to go off (i.e. depart), aside (i.e. apart) or behind (i.e. follow), literally or figuratively:--come, depart, go (aside, away, back, out, … ways), pass away, be past.
- G609 — ἀποκόπτω (apokóptō, ap-ok-op'-to): I smite, cut off, emasculate — from ἀπό and κόπτω; to amputate; reflexively (by irony) to mutilate (the privy parts):--cut off. Compare κατατομή.
- G762 — ἄσβεστος (ásbestos, as'-bes-tos): inextinguishable, unquenchable — from Α (as a negative particle) and a derivative of σβέννυμι; not extinguished, i.e. (by implication) perpetual:--not to be quenched, unquenchable.
- G846 — αὐτός (autós, ow-tos'): he, she, it, they, them, same — from the particle (perhaps akin to the base of ἀήρ through the idea of a baffling wind) (backward); the reflexive pronoun self, used (alone or in the comparative ἑαυτοῦ) of the third person , and (with the proper personal pronoun) of the other persons:--her, it(-self), one, the other, (mine) own, said, (self-), the) same, ((him-, my-, thy- )self, (your-)selves, she, that, their(-s), them(-selves), there(-at, - by, -in, -into, -of, -on, -with), they, (these) things, this (man), those, together, very, which. - G1067 — γέεννα (géenna, gheh'-en-nah): Gehenna — of Hebrew origin (גַּיְא and הִנֹּם); valley of (the son of) Hinnom; ge-henna (or Ge-Hinnom), a valley of Jerusalem, used (figuratively) as a name for the place (or state) of everlasting punishment:--hell.
- G1417 — δύο (dýo, doo'-o): two — a primary numeral; "two":--both, twain, two.
- G1437 — ἐάν (eán, eh-an'): if — from εἰ and ἄν; a conditional particle; in case that, provided, etc.; often used in connection with other particles to denote indefiniteness or uncertainty:--before, but, except, (and) if, (if) so, (what-, whither-)soever, though, when (-soever), whether (or), to whom, (who-)so(-ever). Often used in composition with the same general import, but only with verbs (etc.) expressing motion (literally or figuratively).
- G1525 — εἰσέρχομαι (eisérchomai, ice-er'-khom-ahee): I go in, come in, enter — from εἰς and ἔρχομαι; to enter (literally or figuratively):--X arise, come (in, into), enter in(-to), go in (through).

- G2228 — ἤ (ḗ, ay): or, than — a primary particle of distinction between two connected terms; disjunctive, or; comparative, than:--and, but (either), (n-)either, except it be, (n-)or (else), rather, save, than, that, what, yea. Often used in connection with other particles. Compare especially ἤδη, ἤπερ, ἤτοι.
