Titus 2:12

Titus 2:11 Titus 2:12 (KJV) Titus 2:13
For the grace of God that bringeth salvation hath appeared to all men,
Teaching us that, denying ungodliness and worldly lusts, we should live soberly, righteously, and godly, in this present world;
Looking for that blessed hope, and the glorious appearing of the great God and our Saviour Jesus Christ;

  • G165 — αἰών (aiṓn, ahee-ohn'): an age, a cycle of time — from the same as ἀεί; properly, an age; by extension, perpetuity (also past); by implication, the world; specially (Jewish) a Messianic period (present or future):--age, course, eternal, (for) ever(-more), (n-)ever, (beginning of the , while the) world (began, without end). Compare χρόνος.
  • G720 — ἀρνέομαι (arnéomai, ar-neh'-om-ahee): I deny, repudiate — perhaps from Α (as a negative particle) and the middle voice of ῥέω; to contradict, i.e. disavow, reject, abnegate:--deny, refuse.
  • G763 — ἀσέβεια (asébeia, as-eb'-i-ah): impiety, irreverence, wickedness — from ἀσεβής; impiety, i.e. (by implication) wickedness:--ungodly(-liness).
  • G1346 — δικαίως (dikaíōs, dik-ah'-yoce): justly, righteously — adverb from δίκαιος; equitably:--justly, (to) righteously(-ness).
  • G1722 — ἐν (en, en): in, on, among — a primary preposition denoting (fixed) position (in place, time or state), and (by implication) instrumentality (medially or constructively), i.e. a relation of rest (intermediate between εἰς and ἐκ); "in," at, (up-)on, by, etc.:--about, after, against, + almost, X altogether, among, X as, at, before, between, (here-)by (+ all means), for (… sake of), + give self wholly to, (here-)in(-to, -wardly), X mightily, (because) of, (up-)on, (open-)ly, X outwardly, one, X quickly, X shortly, (speedi-)ly, X that, X there(-in, -on), through(-out), (un-)to(-ward), under, when, where(-with), while, with(-in). Often used in compounds, with substantially the same import; rarely with verbs of motion, and then not to indicate direction, except (elliptically) by a separate (and different) preposition.
  • G1939 — ἐπιθυμία (epithymía, ep-ee-thoo-mee'-ah): desire, eagerness for, inordinate desire, lust — from ἐπιθυμέω; a longing (especially for what is forbidden):--concupiscence, desire, lust (after).
  • G2153 — εὐσεβῶς (eusebōs, yoo-seb-oce'): piously, religiously — adverb from εὐσεβής; piously:--godly.
  • G2198 — ζάω (záō, dzah'-o): I live — a primary verb; to live (literally or figuratively):--life(-time), (a-)live(-ly), quick.
  • G2248 — ἡμᾶς (hēmâs, hay-mas'): accusative case plural of ἐγώ; us:--our, us, we.
  • G2443 — ἵνα (hína, hin'-ah): in order that, so that — probably from the same as the former part of ἑαυτοῦ (through the demonstrative idea; compare ὁ); in order that (denoting the purpose or the result):--albeit, because, to the intent (that), lest, so as, (so) that, (for) to. Compare ἵνα μή.
  • G2532 — καί (kaí, kahee): and, even, also, namely — apparently, a primary particle, having a copulative and sometimes also a cumulative force; and, also, even, so then, too, etc.; often used in connection (or composition) with other particles or small words:--and, also, both, but, even, for, if, or, so, that, then, therefore, when, yet.
  • G2886 — κοσμικός (kosmikós, kos-mee-kos'): earthly, worldly — from κόσμος (in its secondary sense); terrene ("cosmic"), literally (mundane) or figuratively (corrupt):--worldly.
  • G3568 — νῦν (nŷn, noon): now, already, at present — a primary particle of present time; "now" (as adverb of date, a transition or emphasis); also as noun or adjective present or immediate:--henceforth, + hereafter, of late, soon, present, this (time). See also τανῦν, νυνί.
  • G3811 — παιδεύω (paideúō, pahee-dyoo'-o): I discipline, educate, train, chastise — from παῖς; to train up a child, i.e. educate, or (by implication), discipline (by punishment):--chasten(-ise), instruct, learn, teach.
