1 Peter 5:4

1 Peter 5:3 1 Peter 5:4 (KJV) 1 Peter 5:5
Neither as being lords over [God's] heritage, but being ensamples to the flock.
And when the chief Shepherd shall appear, ye shall receive a crown of glory that fadeth not away.
Likewise, ye younger, submit yourselves unto the elder. Yea, all [of you] be subject one to another, and be clothed with humility: for God resisteth the proud, and giveth grace to the humble.

Strong's References
  • G262 — ἀμαράντινος (amarántinos, am-ar-an'-tee-nos): unfading, fadeless — from ἀμάραντος; "amaranthine", i.e. (by implication) fadeless:--that fadeth not away.
  • G750 — ἀρχιποίμην (archipoímēn, ar-khee-poy'-mane): the chief shepherd — from ἀρχή and ποιμήν; a head shepherd:--chief shepherd.
  • G1391 — δόξα (dóxa, dox'-ah): honor, renown, glory splendor — from the base of δοκέω; glory (as very apparent), in a wide application (literal or figurative, objective or subjective):--dignity, glory(-ious), honour, praise, worship.
  • G2532 — καί (kaí, kahee): and, even, also, namely — apparently, a primary particle, having a copulative and sometimes also a cumulative force; and, also, even, so then, too, etc.; often used in connection (or composition) with other particles or small words:--and, also, both, but, even, for, if, or, so, that, then, therefore, when, yet.
  • G2865 — κομίζω (komízō, kom-id'-zo): I bring, receive, recover — from a primary (to tend, i.e. take care of); properly, to provide for, i.e. (by implication) to carry off (as if from harm; genitive case obtain):--bring, receive.
  • G4735 — στέφανος (stéphanos, stef'-an-os): a crown, garland — from an apparently primary (to twine or wreathe); a chaplet (as a badge of royalty, a prize in the public games or a symbol of honor generally; but more conspicuous and elaborate than the simple fillet, διάδημα), literally or figuratively:--crown.
  • G5319 — φανερόω (phaneróō, fan-er-o'-o): I make clear, visible, or manifest — from φανερός; to render apparent (literally or figuratively):--appear, manifestly declare, (make) manifest (forth), shew (self).

The following Strong's numbers are referenced in the Greek (Textus Receptus, Scrivener 1894) text but were not explicitly tagged in the KJV source:

  • G3588 — ὁ (ho, ho): the — the definite article; the (sometimes to be supplied, at others omitted, in English idiom):--the, this, that, one, he, she, it, etc.
