And some of them believed, and consorted with Paul and Silas; and of the devout Greeks a great multitude, and of the chief women not a few.

But the Jews which believed not, moved with envy, took unto them certain lewd fellows of the baser sort, and gathered a company, and set all the city on an uproar, and assaulted the house of Jason, and sought to bring them out to the people.

And when they found them not, they drew Jason and certain brethren unto the rulers of the city, crying, These that have turned the world upside down are come hither also;

- G60 — ἀγοραῖος (agoraîos, ag-or-ah'-yos): a lounger in the market-place — from ἀγορά; relating to the market-place, i.e. forensic (times); by implication, vulgar:--baser sort, low.
- G71 — ἄγω (ágō, ag'-o): I lead — a primary verb; properly, to lead; by implication, to bring, drive, (reflexively) go, (specially) pass (time), or (figuratively) induce:--be, bring (forth), carry, (let) go, keep, lead away, be open.
- G435 — ἀνήρ (anḗr, an'-ayr): a male human being, a man — a primary word (compare ἄνθρωπος); a man (properly as an individual male):--fellow, husband, man, sir.
- G544 — ἀπειθέω (apeithéō, ap-i-theh'-o): I disobey, rebel, am disloyal — from ἀπειθής; to disbelieve (wilfully and perversely):--not believe, disobedient, obey not, unbelieving.

- G2186 — ἐφίστημι (ephístēmi, ef-is'-tay-mee): I stand by, am urgent, befall one, impend — from ἐπί and ἵστημι; to stand upon, i.e. be present (in various applications, friendly or otherwise, usually literal); --assault, come (in, to, unto, upon), be at hand (instant), present, stand (before, by, over).
- G2206 — ζηλόω (zēlóō, dzay-lo'-o): I am jealous, eager for — from ζῆλος; to have warmth of feeling for or against:--affect, covet (earnestly), (have) desire, (move with) envy, be jealous over, (be) zealous(-ly affect).
- G2212 — ζητέω (zētéō, dzay-teh'-o): I seek, search for, desire — of uncertain affinity; to seek (literally or figuratively); specially, (by Hebraism) to worship (God), or (in a bad sense) to plot (against life):--be (go) about, desire, endeavour, enquire (for), require, (X will) seek (after, for, means). Compare πυνθάνομαι.
- G2350 — θορυβέω (thorybéō, thor-oo-beh'-o): I disturb greatly, terrify, strike with panic — from θόρυβος; to be in tumult, i.e. disturb, clamor:--make ado (a noise), trouble self, set on an uproar.
- G2394 — Ἰάσων (Iásōn, ee-as'-oan): Jason — future active participle masculine of ἰάομαι; about to cure; Jason, a Christian:--Jason.
- G2453 — Ἰουδαῖος (Ioudaîos, ee-oo-dah'-yos): Jewish — from Ἰουδά (in the sense of Ἰούδας as a country); Judæan, i.e. belonging to Jehudah:--Jew(-ess), of Judæa.
- G2532 — καί (kaí, kahee): and, even, also, namely — apparently, a primary particle, having a copulative and sometimes also a cumulative force; and, also, even, so then, too, etc.; often used in connection (or composition) with other particles or small words:--and, also, both, but, even, for, if, or, so, that, then, therefore, when, yet.
- G3614 — οἰκία (oikía, oy-kee'-ah): a house, household — from οἶκος; properly, residence (abstractly), but usually (concretely) an abode (literally or figuratively); by implication, a family (especially domestics):--home, house(-hold).
- G3792 — ὀχλοποιέω (ochlopoiéō, okh-lop-oy-eh'-o): I gather a crowd — from ὄχλος and ποιέω; to make a crowd, i.e. raise a public disturbance:--gather a company.
- G4172 — πόλις (pólis, pol'-is): a city — probably from the same as πόλεμος, or perhaps from πολύς; a town (properly, with walls, of greater or less size):--city.
- G4190 — πονηρός (ponērós, pon-ay-ros'): evil, bad, wicked — from a derivative of πόνος; hurtful, i.e. evil (properly, in effect or influence, and thus differing from κακός, which refers rather to essential character, as well as from σαπρός, which indicates degeneracy from original virtue); figuratively, calamitous; also (passively) ill, i.e. diseased; but especially (morally) culpable, i.e. derelict, vicious, facinorous; neuter (singular) mischief, malice, or (plural) guilt; masculine (singular) the devil, or (plural) sinners:--bad, evil, grievous, harm, lewd, malicious, wicked(-ness). See also πονηρότερος.
- G4355 — προσλαμβάνω (proslambánō, pros-lam-ban'-o): I take to myself, welcome — from πρός and λαμβάνω; to take to oneself, i.e. use (food), lead (aside), admit (to friendship or hospitality):--receive, take (unto).
- G5037 — τέ (té, teh): and, both — a primary particle (enclitic) of connection or addition; both or also (properly, as correlation of καί):--also, and, both, even, then, whether. Often used in composition, usually as the latter participle.
- G5100 — τὶς (tìs, tis): any one, some one — an enclitic indefinite pronoun; some or any person or object:--a (kind of), any (man, thing, thing at all), certain (thing), divers, he (every) man, one (X thing), ought, + partly, some (man, -body, - thing, -what), (+ that no-)thing, what(-soever), X wherewith, whom(-soever), whose(-soever).
