Titus 1:16
| ← Titus 1:15 | Titus 1:16 (KJV) | Titus 2:1 → |
|---|---|---|
Unto the pure all things [are] pure: but unto them that are defiled and unbelieving [is] nothing pure; but even their mind and conscience is defiled.
|
They profess that they know God; but in works they deny [him], being abominable, and disobedient, and unto every good work reprobate.
|
But speak thou the things which become sound doctrine:

- G18 — ἀγαθός (agathós, ag-ath-os'): good — a primary word; "good" (in any sense, often as noun):--benefit, good(-s, things), well. Compare καλός.
- G96 — ἀδόκιμος (adókimos, ad-ok'-ee-mos): failing to pass the test — from Α (as a negative particle) and δόκιμος; unapproved, i.e. rejected; by implication, worthless (literally or morally):--castaway, rejected, reprobate.
- G545 — ἀπειθής (apeithḗs, ap-i-thace'): unbelieving, disobedient — from Α (as a negative particle) and πείθω; unpersuadable, i.e. contumacious:--disobedient.
- G720 — ἀρνέομαι (arnéomai, ar-neh'-om-ahee): I deny, repudiate — perhaps from Α (as a negative particle) and the middle voice of ῥέω; to contradict, i.e. disavow, reject, abnegate:--deny, refuse.
- G947 — βδελυκτός (bdelyktós, bdel-ook-tos'): abominable, detestable — from βδελύσσω; detestable, i.e. (specially) idolatrous:--abominable.
- G1161 — δέ (dé, deh): but, on the other hand, and — a primary particle (adversative or continuative); but, and, etc.:--also, and, but, moreover, now (often unexpressed in English).
- G1492 — εἴδω (eídō, i'-do): I know, remember — a primary verb; used only in certain past tenses, the others being borrowed from the equivalent ὀπτάνομαι and ὁράω; properly, to see (literally or figuratively); by implication, (in the perfect tense only) to know:--be aware, behold, X can (+ not tell), consider, (have) know(-ledge), look (on), perceive, see, be sure, tell, understand, wish, wot. Compare ὀπτάνομαι.
- G2041 — ἔργον (érgon, er'-gon): work, labor, action, deed — from a primary (but obsolete) (to work); toil (as an effort or occupation); by implication, an act:--deed, doing, labour, work.
- G2316 — θεός (theós, theh'-os): God, a god — of uncertain affinity; a deity, especially (with ὁ) the supreme Divinity; figuratively, a magistrate; by Hebraism, very:--X exceeding, God, god(-ly, -ward).
- G2532 — καί (kaí, kahee): and, even, also, namely — apparently, a primary particle, having a copulative and sometimes also a cumulative force; and, also, even, so then, too, etc.; often used in connection (or composition) with other particles or small words:--and, also, both, but, even, for, if, or, so, that, then, therefore, when, yet.
- G3670 — ὁμολογέω (homologéō, hom-ol-og-eh'-o): I confess, profess, acknowledge, praise — from a compound of the base of ὁμοῦ and λόγος; to assent, i.e. covenant, acknowledge:--con- (pro-)fess, confession is made, give thanks, promise.
- G3956 — πᾶς (pâs, pas): all, the whole, every kind of — including all the forms of declension; apparently a primary word; all, any, every, the whole:--all (manner of, means), alway(-s), any (one), X daily, + ever, every (one, way), as many as, + no(-thing), X thoroughly, whatsoever, whole, whosoever.
- G4314 — πρός (prós, pros): to, towards, with — a strengthened form of πρό; a preposition of direction; forward to, i.e. toward (with the genitive case, the side of, i.e. pertaining to; with the dative case, by the side of, i.e. near to; usually with the accusative case, the place, time, occasion, or respect, which is the destination of the relation, i.e. whither or for which it is predicated):--about, according to , against, among, at, because of, before, between, (where-)by, for, X at thy house, in, for intent, nigh unto, of, which pertain to, that, to (the end that), X together, to (you) -ward, unto, with(-in). In the comparative case, it denotes essentially the same applications, namely, motion towards, accession to, or nearness at.
