Acts 17:30
| ← Acts 17:29 | Acts 17:30 (KJV) | Acts 17:31 → |
|---|---|---|
Forasmuch then as we are the offspring of God, we ought not to think that the Godhead is like unto gold, or silver, or stone, graven by art and man's device.
|
And the times of this ignorance God winked at; but now commandeth all men every where to repent:
|
Because he hath appointed a day, in the which he will judge the world in righteousness by [that] man whom he hath ordained; [whereof] he hath given assurance unto all [men], in that he hath raised him from the dead.

- G2316 — θεός (theós, theh'-os): God, a god — of uncertain affinity; a deity, especially (with ὁ) the supreme Divinity; figuratively, a magistrate; by Hebraism, very:--X exceeding, God, god(-ly, -ward).
- G3303 — μέν (mén, men): truly, indeed — a primary particle; properly, indicative of affirmation or concession (in fact); usually followed by a contrasted clause with δέ (this one, the former, etc.):--even, indeed, so, some, truly, verily. Often compounded with other particles in an intensive or asseverative sense.
- G3340 — μετανοέω (metanoéō, met-an-o-eh'-o): I repent, change my mind — from μετά and νοιέω; to think differently or afterwards, i.e. reconsider (morally, feel compunction):--repent.
- G3569 — τανῦν (tanŷn, tan-oon'): from neuter plural of ὁ and νῦν; the things now, i.e. (adverbially) at present:--(but) now.
- G3767 — οὖν (oûn, oon): therefore, then — apparently a primary word; (adverbially) certainly, or (conjunctionally) accordingly:--and (so, truly), but, now (then), so (likewise then), then, therefore, verily, wherefore.
- G3837 — πανταχοῦ (pantachoû, pan-takh-oo'): everywhere — genitive case (as adverb of place) of a presumed derivative of πᾶς; universally:--in all places, everywhere.
- G3853 — παραγγέλλω (parangéllō, par-ang-gel'-lo): I notify, command, charge — from παρά and the base of ἄγγελος; to transmit a message, i.e. (by implication) to enjoin:--(give in) charge, (give) command(-ment), declare.
- G3956 — πᾶς (pâs, pas): all, the whole, every kind of — including all the forms of declension; apparently a primary word; all, any, every, the whole:--all (manner of, means), alway(-s), any (one), X daily, + ever, every (one, way), as many as, + no(-thing), X thoroughly, whatsoever, whole, whosoever.
- G5237 — ὑπερείδω (hypereídō, hoop-er-i'-do): I overlook — from ὑπέρ and εἴδω; to overlook, i.e. not punish:--wink at.
- G5550 — χρόνος (chrónos, khron'-os): time, a particular time, season — of uncertain derivation; a space of time (in general, and thus properly distinguished from καιρός, which designates a fixed or special occasion; and from αἰών, which denotes a particular period) or interval; by extension, an individual opportunity; by implication, delay:--+ years old, season, space, (X often-)time(-s), (a) while.
The following Strong's numbers are referenced in the Greek (Textus Receptus, Scrivener 1894) text but were not explicitly tagged in the KJV source:
- G3568 — νῦν (nŷn, noon): now, already, at present — a primary particle of present time; "now" (as adverb of date, a transition or emphasis); also as noun or adjective present or immediate:--henceforth, + hereafter, of late, soon, present, this (time). See also τανῦν, νυνί.
- G3588 — ὁ (ho, ho): the — the definite article; the (sometimes to be supplied, at others omitted, in English idiom):--the, this, that, one, he, she, it, etc.
