|---|---|---|
Casting all your care upon him; for he careth for you.
|
Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil, as a roaring lion, walketh about, seeking whom he may devour:
|
Whom resist stedfast in the faith, knowing that the same afflictions are accomplished in your brethren that are in the world.

- G476 — ἀντίδικος (antídikos, an-tid'-ee-kos): an opponent, adversary — from ἀντί and δίκη; an opponent (in a lawsuit); specially, Satan (as the arch-enemy):--adversary.
- G1127 — γρηγορεύω (grēgoreúō, gray-gor-yoo'-o): I am awake, am vigilant, watch — from ἐγείρω; to keep awake, i.e. watch (literally or figuratively):--be vigilant, wake, (be) watch(-ful).

- G2212 — ζητέω (zētéō, dzay-teh'-o): I seek, search for, desire — of uncertain affinity; to seek (literally or figuratively); specially, (by Hebraism) to worship (God), or (in a bad sense) to plot (against life):--be (go) about, desire, endeavour, enquire (for), require, (X will) seek (after, for, means). Compare πυνθάνομαι.
- G2666 — καταπίνω (katapínō, kat-ap-ee'-no): I swallow, devour, destroy — from κατά and πίνω; to drink down, i.e. gulp entire (literally or figuratively):--devour, drown, swallow (up).
- G3023 — λέων (léōn, leh-ohn'): a lion — a primary word; a "lion":--lion.
- G3525 — νήφω (nḗphō, nay'-fo): I am calm, vigilant, sober — of uncertain affinity; to abstain from wine (keep sober), i.e. (figuratively) be discreet:--be sober, watch.
- G3754 — ὅτι (hóti, hot'-ee): that, since, because — neuter of ὅστις as conjunction; demonstrative, that (sometimes redundant); causative, because:--as concerning that, as though, because (that), for (that), how (that), (in) that, though, why.
- G4043 — περιπατέω (peripatéō, per-ee-pat-eh'-o): I walk, conduct my life — from περί and πατέω; to tread all around, i.e. walk at large (especially as proof of ability); figuratively, to live, deport oneself, follow (as a companion or votary):--go, be occupied with, walk (about).
- G5101 — τίς (tís, tis): who, which, what — probably emphatic of τὶς; an interrogative pronoun, who, which or what (in direct or indirect questions):--every man, how (much), + no(-ne, thing), what (manner, thing), where (-by, -fore, -of, -unto, - with, -withal), whether, which, who(-m, -se), why.
- G5216 — ὑμῶν (hymōn, hoo-mone'): genitive case of ὑμεῖς; of (from or concerning) you:--ye, you, your (own, -selves).
The following Strong's numbers are referenced in the Greek (Textus Receptus, Scrivener 1894) text but were not explicitly tagged in the KJV source:
- G3588 — ὁ (ho, ho): the — the definite article; the (sometimes to be supplied, at others omitted, in English idiom):--the, this, that, one, he, she, it, etc.
